I'm still so biased to Generation II, but I really don't know... I'd say the only one that is completely out of the potential favorites for me is Generation III. The rest of them I all really liked, and I'm not sure I have even comprehended the idea of a 'favorite' after Generation II. My mind kind of settled on Crystal being the best Pokemon game, and then...stopped. xD That's awful, I know... All Pokemon generations beyond III have been amazing, IMO.

Gen 5 is the only right answer. Everything about it was great. My favorite Pokemon, Daikenki (Cooler name than "Samurott", IMO) comes from it, too!

This is a hard question for me to answer.

Gen II was the first experience I had with Pokemon, but Gen I was the first Pokemon games that I finished. Consequently, they have a lot of nostalgic value to me. The flip-side is that Gen III and IV were the Pokemon games I probably spent the most time playing and enjoying. Those two gens were the first two that I started taking Pokemon more "seriously." From there I struggled a lot less in playthroughs. I never played Gen V on my DS, only on an emulator. They're probably my least favorite games because of the awkward graphics.

If I really had to pick right here and now, my favorite gen would probably be VI. Though it might not be the most popular opinion, but I really enjoyed XY. It largely because Kalos is such a convincing region compared to the rest. The music for Gen VI has also been amazing. I really hope GameFreak doesn't leaving us hanging with Kalos because though XY were good, I felt that there were many problems that could've been addressed and I hope they take that chance.

That's a toughie. Ultimately I picked Gen IV for having the most enjoyable travel experience, though, and exploration is key to most JRPGs. Sinnoh was just designed so nicely and was downright fun and exciting to navigate. It was also packed to the brim with content and I sank more hours into Platinum than I have any other Pokemon game.

Gen V is a close second due to how well the story in B/W managed to engage me as opposed to the other games. Not many other games had managed to successfully tell a deeper narrative on a mature level, and it was nice to know that Nintendo felt Pokemon fans could handle a more mature storyline as opposed to having some throwaway villains as comic relief.

If The Shadow Pokemon games count, Gen III would have been another close pick. I had fun with both the region and story in those games, more than any of the main games actually.

And VI managed to perfect interaction with your Pokemon as a game mechanic. I loved how much I actually felt like a Pokemon trainer when I played through X/Y. It was a feeling that no other Pokemon game had managed to replicate for me. The subtle things to the noticeable, it was an entirely different and new Pokemon experience for me.

4th. There's very little that the games did wrong (except for DP's pokedex, but that was immediately rectified in Platinum). They especially stood out because of the amount of content and the region design, there was a lot to explore and a lot to do in the games.

Gen VI added the ability to sit down in chairs, one of my favorite features, and includes the Hoenn remakes, but all in all, I gotta go with Gen III.

Generation 1 will always be my favorite. I have so much nostalgia for the old pokemon sprites and music. Also, how cool is Bellsprout!?

Throughout all gens. My favourite would be Gen 5.

I really liked Unova and looking around every place in the region was something I did.

I also enjoyed the new Pokemon and loved how in B/W forced you to have a fresh beginning, learning all the Pokemon again was really nostalgic for me and introduced my favourite Pokemon Eelektross.

I'll admit the region is A LOT more linear but to me, it doesn't tone it down. I think it was done not just for new players to know where to go but to also allow the story to be more involved (kinda like Skyward Sword). This was the first time I cared about the characters and felt something for them and loved how much the Gym Leaders were involved in B/W and my favourite part about B/W story is that its big involvement allowed the final boss be the leader and not the champion which I prefer because in other Gens when the battle with the evil teams is over I lose interest in the Pokemon League (except in Gen 1 where the story involved you and your rival more). B/W made me want to venture to the Pokemon League to defeat Team Plasma who have came so far.

As for B2/W2, it improved a lot on gameplay, since we all knew the new Pokemon by now it was smart for them to put in a batch of Old ones in too. The Black Tower/White Tree hollow was a great addition and allowed training Pokemon to be easier. The PWT was probably the best battle facility ever and expanded region included very interesting new places. The story was less involved unfortunately but it was still amazing for what it told, Colress was an interesting new character only wanting answers to his research and the Climax of the Team Plasma feud was a great way to end such a terrific made team, though I wished that happened later. Maybe right before the champion and make her post game like Alder.

Third generation is still my favorite. We got Ruby and Sapphire. We got Kanto remakes. Then we got Emerald. The graphics in these games were beautiful for their time. Hell, I still consider the graphics in the third generation beautiful.

Just such a fun time.

Generation 3 was my favorite. I loved the soundtrack, and it was cool to see an updated Kanto region.

Giving Gen VI some support here, everything there looks beautiful and it introduced Greninja as well as Pokémon Amie which is just the cutest thing ever.

Gen IV is a close second as it had one of my favorite soundtracks, most of my favorite mons and was the first time I actually owned a Pokémon game.

My favorite is gen 4. First off all, nostalgia. Pearl was my 1st ever main series Pokemon game and I adored it. I love most of the new Pokemon introduced, the physical/special split was nice, the story for the DPP is probably my favorite so far, and I love the Sinnoh region. HGSS were okay, I enjoyed them, but not nearly as much as DPP. I also loved PBR, Pokepark 1, PMD2, and PMD3 as side games.

Generation III tied with V. Generation III was the first game of the Pokemon series I played (along with Diamond but eh), so nostalgia does play a key role into this. Almost every Pokemon in the region had an interesting design, the storyline may have been a bit bleh in terms of development but it was entertaining, and then the music tops it all off. Region design is also good, varied and the long water route never bothered me. FireRed and LeafGreen are games I can't judge due to not finishing them thanks to a glitchy cartridge, but from what I've played, I don't understand why can't cross generation evolutions happen? Like get a Golbat up to enough Happiness and level it up but it can't evolve since you don't have the National Dex. Even RS wasn't this restrictive. Pokemon variety is also too small, needs more cross evolutions like I said.

Generation V on the other hand was a breath of fresh air. Gone are the days of clunky slowness that plagued DPPt, now the game felt streamlined in the best way possible. I'll admit that the Vs. Seeker was useful before E4, but you'd never use it after that so not a huge problem. The Pokemon in the region weren't all that bad honestly aside from a few, storyline and characters were the best this series will have ever done and the music is also great. Region design is also pretty good but there aren't too many areas to explore freely so Generation IV gets that much right at least. Haven't played B2W2 just yet so I'll add more to that when the time comes.

Gen IV, partly because Diamond was my first Pokémon game so Sinnoh just holds a lot of nostalgia for me. But also because most of my favourite characters and Pokémon are in D/P/Pt and HG/SS and these games have the best music imo. I also like the player characters and rivals of these games the most and HG/SS had Pokémon walking behind you, which I still like better than Amie.

Generation IV, which pretty much equals DPPt to me. SoulSilver was an awesome game as well, but DPPt just takes my heart away forever into the realm of spacetime and antimatter and the entire universe itself.

Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Arceus and the mythologies/legends surrounding them. Shaymin, Garchomp, Yanmega, the Sinnoh region as a whole, the cities/towns, the Distortion world, the Gym leaders, Cynthia, the music... I don't know, I love everything about DPPt. They mean a lot to me.

Oh, and Platinum is the best Pokemon game ever.

My favorite Pokémon Generation.

Generation 4.
Why? Because I have an event Arceus that's Level 100. And Giratina. But pretty much that Arceus from Toys R Us. And Empoleon. And Infernape. And Dialga. And that Palkia I caught with a Net Ball. And Croagunk. And that feel when you beat the game. And we shouldn't forget Garchomp.

I have that feeling for those games as well.

Used to be gen IV, because of how much i enjoyed DPPt, but now it's gen VI because of how much i enjoyed oRaS. those games have become my favorites in the whole series after playing them extensively, let alone after clocking in hours faster in this game than i did XY.
