not sure if this is in the right place, im too tired. so out of sonic the hedgehog (platformer for genesis) or sonic adventure (1 or 2, includes remakes for gamecube an pc) what is your favorite.

Adventure 2 Battle omg. HANDS DOWN one of the best ever. That, or Sonic 3 and Knuckles.

SA2 DC. Sadly, it's expensive and the working copy I had broke.

Sonic Chaos and Triple Trouble for the GG are good, but I need a working game gear.

Sonic CD and S3&K tie for the best 2d sonic, while the best spin off game is Chaotix for the 32x. It's underrated, but sadly, it's short.

Sonic 3 & Knuckles for me. Sonic CD is a close second, though. I'm one of few that did not mix well with Sonic Adventure 2. It's pretty low on my list.

Sonic 3 & Knuckles, since it's the complete version, on the Genesis side.
Also, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, on the more recent side. The DC version is largely the same thing.

Sonic Adventure didn't quite stand out for me as a favorite, though, because its old and buggy engine never gets upgraded or bug-fixed, no matter how many times Sega ports it. I still love it though.

SA1 was ok. The 360 version fixes the slowdown though, and the PC version is slowdown free on a modern PC with a good GPU.

At the risk of sounding redundant, I'm going to have to go with Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Put simply, it's just an all round brilliant game, and manages to tick all the right boxes. Excellent and wonderfully varied level design, superb art direction, fun new gimmicks including the shields and the other playable characters? All this stuff and more easily makes it the cream of the crop for Sonic games imo.

Second favourite is a bit of a black sheep, but regardless, I've always had an inexplicable fondness for Tails Adventure on the GG. It goes against pretty much everything that one expects from a Sonic game, but I never seem to tire of this rpg-esque puzzler. The Battle Kukkus also made for fun Eggman stand-ins.

The direction the games headed in post-Adventure I'm not keen on at all, but I did very much enjoy Sonic Colors, and thought it was a massive step in the right direction. Lighthearted romp with plenty of decent platforming in colorful, wacky levels? Works for me!

Thanks, I might get that game once I get a working GG.

My favorite Sonic game would probably be Sonic Colors. It was fun, challenging at times, featured superb level design and aesthetics, and didn't take itself too seriously. It wasn't flawless, and there's a lot of room for improvement, but it's easily the Sonic game I've enjoyed most.

Simply put, I was never a huge fan of the Genesis games and I didn't grow up with them. When I did pick up Mega Collection for the GameCube, I enjoyed the Genesis titles, but I didn't really find them to be all they were cracked up to be. Still, Sonic 3 and Knuckles in particular was very enjoyable.

As far as spin-offs go, Sonic Battle is easily my favorite. It had surprisingly great story which nailed each and every character's personality perfectly, simple but enjoyable battle mechanics which resembled Smash Bros. quite a bit, and also the uniqueness and variability of Emerl. It was a lot of fun customizing it and testing it out with your choice of moves. I would've loved to see a DS sequel.

Toss-up between Adventure 2 Battle and Colors, but probably more on the latter.
For the 2-D games, oddly enough, Advance 2.

For over a decade Sonic Adventure was my favorite Sonic game. I feel it did for the Sonic series what Super Mario 64 did for the Mario series. Other than a solid sequel to Adventure (both Adventure games only shine on the Dreamcast; the GameCube ports aren't great) and Heroes, which was decent, they never really capitalized on the success of that first foray into 3D.

That is until Sonic Colors. It's a great blend of classic and modern Sonic that encompasses everything I loved about the series up until about 2003. It's fast-paced while maintaining a smoothness that hasn't been in the Sonic franchise since Adventure 2. And it is gorgeous. The voice acting is actually pretty damn good and the cutscenes are pretty snappy for a Sonic game. Icing on the cake of sorts.

I like the Genesis originals, a lot. It's hard to pick a favorite, but 1 might edge out as my favorite.

Can't stand where the franchise went since, though.

I'm really glad to see Adventure 2 getting so much love. It has its flaws, but I love that game to pieces. I probably sunk more hours into that game than I did into any game since my SNES/Megadrive days.

Of the originals, you can't beat playing Sonic 3 and Knuckles from beginning to end. Combined, the games make up what is arguably the best platformer ever created.

And for something out of left-field... I have a secret passion for Shadow the Hedgehog. Maybe it helps that I went into the game with really low expectations, but I thought it had some really clever ideas and great replayability. Plus, it actually felt like a proper followup to Sonic Adventure 2, far more so that the brightly-coloured blandfest that was Heroes.

Also: Bring back Tikal.

I like a lot of Sonic Games as well as spin-offs

So here's my list:
Sonic 2
Sonic 3 and Knuckles (I've got all Super Emeralds for each character without cheating)
Sonic 4 Episode 1
Sonic Adventure DX (DX for the metal Sonic and Special Chaos not present in the original)
SA2B for the muliplayer
Sonic Heroes
Shadow The Hedgehog
Sonic2006
Sonic Unleashed
Secret Rings
Black Knight
Colours
Rush
Riders
Rivals
Sonic R (Can you feel the Sunshine is my favourite music)

I'm hoping the new 20th Anniversary Generations game will be good. Old Sonic+New Sonic gameplay

Does Knuckles' Chaotix count?

Chaotix counts, so does Tails Adventure and the 8 bit sonics.

It's either Sonic Adventure 1 or 2.
I liked the gameplay and storyline of adventure 1,
But the Chao raising on 2 was hands down one of the most addicting things I have ever done
