There are a lot of trainers with multiple versions of their teams, and they usually always end up changing the Pokemon on them. There are also a lot of differences it team from the games to the anime or manga. For trainers that do have multiple versions of their teams, which one is your favorite (or favorites)?

I'll go first: I really like N's spring and autumn battles. Mainly for their use of Kabutops (in the spring battle) and Scizor (in the autumn battle).

Personally, I really like how Brock uses fossil Pokemon in his intial gym matches in GSC/HGSS and various rematches throughout the series. It's been mentioned a few times in the games that he helps excavate fossils from Mt. Moon for the Pewter Museum. But because he's the first gym leader in the series, you don't often get to fight him at his full potential and you never get to see him battle with Kabutops or Omastar until post game.

I think its a bit of character lore that's often overlooked in the series, simply because Brock's anime characterization is far more prevalent (and this is not a bad thing by the way!!) I just love how game Brock is an amateur (maybe even a professional?!?) palentologist, I think that's really fun. c:

I never really thought about his use of fossil Pokemon before. It's sad you don't get to rematch gym leaders in FRLG, it would've been really cool to see fossil Pokemon used in-game by another trainer besides Lance.

I've personally always really liked Cynthia's Platinum team the best for her because its components really emphasize why she's such an effective Champion:

She's the only non-Battle Facility NPC to use a Togekiss and Spiritomb, the latter a no-weakness Pokemon that she leads with, meaning she immediately throws you off the moment the battle starts.

Lucario and Roserade are two powerful Pokemon used by previous boss characters in the same game.

Milotic was the ace of the previous Champion.

And of course who could forget the star of the show Garchomp, an absolute beast.

Silver's Victory Road team is one I've recently began to enjoy. Aside from his starter, all of his team haven't reached their final evolutions because their evolution requirements all don't involve leveling up. It reflects how he trains his Pokemon, believing the only key to being a great trainer is just strength. Later on you see that his Golbat has evolved into a Crobat, showing growth in how he raises his team.

Also, shout outs to the Couple in HGSS with the Onix and Cloyster

I think of the Mega Dimension post-game teams for Korrina and Urbain/Taunie. Technically it's mostly the same mons they used already, but with the key twist of having most (or in Korrina's case, litterally) of them mega evolve in succession. It's a cool pull that helps set the tone of a superboss style fight for the game all about megas.

In terms of changes between releases/mediums, Adventures/Emerald/BW2 Wattson immediately comes to mind. His ace being Magneton sticks out in RS when every other Gym Leader/Elite Four in the game uses a Hoenn mon for an ace. He meanwhile didn't even use a Hoenn mon period on his team. Adventures and Emerald remedy this by giving him a much more fitting Manectric (it even shows up with him in the anime, albiet outside of the gym battle) + an additional Electrike to his initial team. Discrepancy resolved, even carries over in his BW2 World Tournament team. Well... until ORAS reverted to using his RS team, with no Manectric in sight. I hope whenever he gets into Masters (apparently he still isn't in yet), they revert back to the Manectric led team.

Someone mentioned Brock's using fossils, so I'm gonna shout out the teams he runs in Black and White 2. While the Type Expert/World Leader's tournament is probably better on a technical level due to slightly more type diversity, in his Kanto Leaders Tournament team, Brock has a Relicanth, which feels very fitting in a way I can't quite put my finger on, and he uses all three Kanto fossils, another thing I like

In general the B2W2 tournament teams are a goldmine for neat things, because it shows a lot of older characters with newer Pokemon and lets the ones who are traditionally early game shine with some more strength.
-Erika's Kanto Leader's tournament is neat, because it's the only team where she uses both Vileplume and Bellosom, and that feels very nice for her.
-Morty's teams both set him up with a Mismagius (which he also has in HGSS rematches- those are also really good) which like, an evolution line he always should've had, but thank god he gets it sometimes, and his Type Expert/World Leader's team gives him a Chandelure which is just like, a really cool Pokemon for him.
-The PWT is the only time in a main series game Tate and Liza get to have separate teams, and I think it does a neat job giving them similar teams with some contrast. I like that they get Gallade and Gardevoir, as well as Reuniclus and Gothitelle respectively. Since the Type Expert/World Leaders teams are the slightly more different ones, I'm gonna give that one an edge
There are more but these are some of the main ones that stood out to me

Also! Bugsy! His HGSS rematch team is really good. Shedinja, while not good is fun and feels like something he'd use, and I similarly like Vespiquen for him more than the Yamega B2W2 gives him.

Falkner's rematch team has a Guts Swellow which is cool because fast STAB facade is like an actual strat but also because you can obtain the flame orb by tricking it off him lol

I really like Clair's HGSS rematch team, not because it's good, but because it sort of says a bit about Clair's character. She uses Gyarados, Dragonair, Aerodactyl, Charizard, Dragonite, and Kingdra. What makes this team unique to me is that aside from Dragonair and Kingdra, which are Pokémon Clair's already associated with, this roster is the same that Lance uses on his Champion team. Granted, the number of Dragon/Dragon-like Pokémon is limited, but it's still interesting they didn't give her Flygon, a Dragon that Lance doesn't use in his rematch team.

To me, I read Clair's HGSS rematch time as her way of imitating Lance. Clair's always had a history of being number 2 compared to Lance. Definitely strong, holding her own against the elite 4, but never able to beat the champion. She's always just second place. And considering her immature and kind of bratty nature, I feel like she's jealous of her cousin in a way. She wants to be him. She wants to surpass him. She wants to be the champion. She claims to be the World's Best Dragon Trainer, but in truth, she's just the second best to Lance. So her mimicking his team is her way of trying to be like him.
