Returning from Arceus, Legend Z-A brought back and practically expanded upon the concept of side missions, quests not essential to the main story (well aside from the ones Emma makes you do) but adds a lot in terms of content, lore building and fun little rewards. What are some sidequests that left a good impression on you in some way? Share them here! Doesn't matter if its base or DLC!

And spoiler warning for at least the side missions themselves.

"Facing the Furfrou League" I think was a really fun one. I like the concept of a bunch of random Furfrou making their own unoffical elite four (in a game that otherwise doesn't fearure one). Plus, the fact you can only use other Furfrous in the battles adds a good balanced challenge and can help you to discover/get attached to the Furfrou themselves. It's overall a really cool spotlight for a Pokémon that's otherwise gone a bit under the radar.

In terms of pure events and energy, "Follow Litwick" may be the most memorable. the way, the sister is trying to help the Litwick by offering it her lifeforce, the random Litwick, jumpscares, The fact your reward is a Life Orb (lol). So many fun layers on this one. Plus, it's cool to back in the sewers!.

I found ZA's side missions SO charming! I think they did a great job of showing a push and pull of living alongside Pokemon, and I think my expectations were subverted pretty frequently (in a positive way).

The Gengar missions, especially "Goodbye Gengar" were really fun--I thought for sure I was going to have to evict this poor little friend, I was so excited when it turns out that that was recognized as kind of mean, and then I was even more surprised at how things concluded. I think it's such a cool example of a pokemon just behaving orthogonally to how humans might expect.

The movie miniseries of "Operation Protect Lumiose", "Trevenant the Haunted Elder Tree" and "Tyrantrum's Furious Jaws" were sooooo endearing to me--I think the comedy rule of three really shone through these, and I think these do a really great job of showing how the Pokemon world can be just genuinely really light-hearted/optimistic even if I'm going through bulldozing things with a t-rex.

(The Furfrou League one was also incredible omg)

Didn't care for any of them in particular, but the one where you have to chase Froakie through the obstacle courses was at least a mildly fun challenge. Some of the other side missions were either too easy or too annoying, but that one stood out as okay.
