I was a big Pokemon fan in 1999 and 2000 (and maybe 2001, don't remember :p), but lost interest in the show after that. I got interested in the show again a few months ago, but obviously missed everything that came in between. I'm sure I've missed a lot of good stuff, but I don't really have time to watch all the episodes to see which are good :\

So I'm wondering, what is/are your guys' favorite:
- episode(s)
- movie(s)
- character(s) - can be one-time, recurring, or in the main cast
- season(s)
- mini-plot (don't know what else to call it, but I mean something like the episodes with Cheryl and the honey)

Also, this may be a funny question to ask about the anime, but which character, apart from Ash, do you think goes through the most development?

I'll try to watch the relevant episodes and movies. Thanks! :)

I really liked the episodes of the league in Hoenn so watch those for sure... also any contests because I love contests.

My favorite character is May because she showed us a whole other side to the Pokemon world we had never witnessed before.

Favorites...

Episode: I forgot the title but it's the one where Pachirisutries to fly on a ship.
Movie: Easy Pokemon 2000.
Characters: Ash and Dawn.
Season: Sinnoh or BF.
Mini-plot: The tiny Lugia in the Johto season.

Favourite episode - Advanced Generation 181 - "Haruka vs Shuu! The Final Battle!" I'm not sure what it is in English x)

Favourite movie - I remember liking 7 a lot, Destiny Deoxys. However, I think 8 or 9 are the best ones, Lucario and the Mystery of Mew and Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea.

Favourite characters - Hikari and . . . that's really it. I like Kasumi and Rocket-dan a lot too. OOOH OOH Shinji :DDD

Favourite saga - Sinnoh/Diamond and Pearl

Favourite arc - I always love contest arcs, and my favourites are the grand festivals and the various leagues.

- episode(s):

Oh boy, toss up between several ones...well, the only ones I can remember that I really like.

"A Bitter Pill to Swallow"
-Holy crap holy crap holy crap. One of the most uncomfortable episodes that make me crack up. No clue why it's uncomfortable. Guess because I'm laughing too much. It's such a weirdass episode in every way (the little man, Spoopy, the fact that they're all pretty much high, Jesse and the attack of the horny Pokemon, James randomly singled out by Meowth, etc).
"Charizard's Burning Ambition"
-Easy favorite. I'm not much of a fan of Charizard, but this is such a great episode. Really good animation and jokes I think, too. (Well shit, Charizard gets thrown over the shoulder of a far more gentle one with a bow OFF A CLIFF INTO A LAKE. Among other asskickings.) Especially great for me since it shows off Charizard's character more and how much Ash had apparently rubbed off on Charizard, like their synchronized hissy fits. Plus Team Rocket save the day. Kinda.
"Sweet Baby James"
-Three words: "I'D. RATHER. DIEEEE!"
Well, mostly that James gets to show just how big of a sweetie he is. I'm not a James fangirl, but I totally appreciate his character, especially for these moments and episodes like this. 'Bout time he showed some balls. Some.
"Electrike Company!"
-Dude, Meowth and James finally standing up to Jesse again. I love Jesse, she's a nutjob and she's had her moments (check out "Ignorance is Blissey") and I think she ought to get a few more, though I'm certainly cool with her being the wonderful nutcracker ditz she seems to have become more as. But Meowth and James don't get to do things like this a lot. I was SO giddy during this episode.
"Malice in Wonderland"
-Trippy acid episode.

- movie(s)

Pokemon the First Movie/Mewtwo Strikes Back (I shit you not. And I actually prefer the dub version. I know, I'm an insult to the fandom, eh?)

The Power of One/Revelation Lugia

Mewtwo Returns (Okay, okay, not exactly a MOVIE, but come on, it was REALLY good. Even if Mewtwo wouldn't stop going into random lengthy angsty speeches.)

Pokemon Heroes/whatever they call it in Japan

Jirachi: Wishmaker (Even worth it JUST for the ending song. Of course the movie's pretty good, very sweet.)

Lucario and the Mystery of Mew/blah (Oh god oh god, so great. Heartbreaking in places, very good.)

- character(s) - can be one-time, recurring, or in the main cast

Meowth, James, Jesse, Professor Oak, Gary, Misty, Tracy (someone has to like him), Max (again, someone has to, plus he's a good kid, come on), May (pretty much for her motherly tendencies, which are really sweet), Brock (mommy Brock!), and...yes, Ash.

As for the one-timers, I'm fond of several, but particularly Mewtwo (okay, not very one-time-ish, but he doesn't pop up a lot; I like picking on him, but I do have a lot of things I love about him), Latias and Latios, and Lucario and Aaron. Can't even list why for the last two. Just. Yay. @__@ And no, not a fangirl.

- season(s)

Honestly, I can't decide. They all have their perks for me.

- mini-plot (don't know what else to call it, but I mean something like the episodes with Cheryl and the honey)

Meh, beats me.

Also, this may be a funny question to ask about the anime, but which character, apart from Ash, do you think goes through the most development?

Ash changed much? He's only matured a bit, really. Here's to hoping he stays clueless.

You can't top Team Rocket when it comes to character development. Beats me how anyone could deny it, even people who hate them. They're the only ones who've even had their backgrounds elaborated on much.

I would say that my favorites are

episodes: The Waterflowers of Cerulean City, March Of The Exeggutor Squad, The Misty Mermaid, Princess vs Princess, Pokemon Shipwreck, Misty Meets Her Match, and Some Like It Hot are just a few of them

movies: Pokemon The First Movie have not seen the original, only the dub
Pokemon The Movie 2000, it was rather impressive to see that everyone played a role in Ash saving the day and Pokemon Heros: Latios and Latias

character: Misty, I have liked her for several years as I have a similar personality in one way, I am a bit of a hot-head but normally calm. I also like how she would know what to say and could convince people that water Pokemon were good and also help them when they needed it.

seasons: my favorites are Kanto, Orange Islands, Johto, Johto League Champions and Master Quest.

mini-plots: I would say the Chronicles episodes that took place in Cerulean City.

- episode(s)
Basically every Haruka-revolved episode, cause I'm like that. Oh and also back from the 1st series, I love the ship-wreck episodes and island of giant pokemon. CLASSICS.

- movie(s)
Manaphy & the Temple of the Sea
Lucario & Mystery of Mew
The 1st & 2nd movie.

- character(s)
Haruka (DUH.) I'm her BIGGEST fangirl of course. ;D
Harley
Kasumi
Nozomi (yes ..i like her. >>)
Shigeru
and yeeeeah ..more, but yeah.

- season(s)
AG & Indigo

- mini-plot
uh ..I don't exactly know what you mean ..but does contests work? xD

Generally my favorite episodes are the good battle ones. I'm too lazy to find titles.

Jigglypuff and Harley are my favorite characters, the former admittedly because of the Super Smash Bros. games. Dr. Quackenpoker gets honorable mention.

The third movie is my favorite.

I can't vouch much for variety in the things I'm about the list, considering the fact that I missed the Hoenn saga, haven't re-watched the Kanto saga in a few months and have forgotten the Johto one. I won't list my reasons because I've talked of this earlier.

- episode
"Secret Sphere Of Influence", "The Unown of the Zui Ruins", "Everyone Participate! Tag Battle!", and the episode in season 1 about the overly zealous Clefairy-obsessed scientist dude

- movie
Spell of the Unown
Mew and the Wave-Guiding Hero (I prefer the Japanese version)
Dialga vs. Palkia vs. Darkrai

- characters
Galen (Phantom's right-hand man in the Manaphy movie), Aaron (movie 8), A.J., Cheryl, Koga, Baron Alberto, Kenny (after seeing him in the ruins episode), Gardenia, Molly, Hunter J, Cynthia, the old lady in the Spiritomb episode, Kouhei, Kezoki (pirate trainer from movie 1), Nando, and the snobby green-haired kid in the Shinx episode

- season
Diamond/Pearl

- mini-plot
The tag battle contest arc. I also liked the sweet honey arc with Cheryl

Episodes
*Do I Hear a Ralts - no brainer here; probably one of the greatest episodes of the franchise, and I think that many, many other fans will agree with that
*The Bicker the Better - some good character development, a couple of nice tag battles, Jessie pairing with May while James pairs with Ash, and Wobbufett giving Brock a heart attack; not much to complain about there!
*Exploud and Clear - Treecko evolves, and so does a CoTD's Loudred; only time we see a Pokemon not belonging to a main character disobey their trainer, which I thought was a nice touch
*A Shroomish Skirmish - Fantastic scenes, and Torchic evolving into Combusken; good plot too
*The Symbol Life - I love this episode; Ash actually takes down a legendary Pokemon!
*Pokemon Ranger - Deoxys Crisis! - everything the seventh movie wasn't
*Grating Spaces - another tag battle episode; ever wanted to see Jessie and James battle with a Charizard and Aggron?

Movies
*Pokemon Heroes
*Pokemon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea
*Diaruga vs. Parukia vs. Darkrai

Characters
None particularily stand out to me as memorable, except perhaps for Kaede

Season(s)
Everything after the end of Johto

Miniplot
*The Hoenn League
*Both Grand Festivals
*Diamond and Pearl Tag Battle arc

My Favorites:

Episodes:

Title do not remember, but the episode in which James, Jassy and Meowth opposed Ash's with Charizard, Venosaur and Blastoes.

At least another favorite episode, which led to ashes in a single battle Leader Jim, where Pikachu even with the best Thunder Swallow showed that I saw, and Swallow Areial Ace.

Films:
The Power of One, Selebi: Voice of the forest, Desteny Deoxys

Seasons:

The best season, I think the first and second _ ^ ^ Probably because it is the only season that I have ever seen on TV in Russian)) Still, not only because of this they want me, but also from the fact that these season, appearing as a character Pikachu and the rest other it is not visible)

I think the Claydol and Whiscash are extremely high up there for episodes. I also really liked that Lombre evolution episode alot of people don't seem to like for some reason.

Movie 7 is still one of my favorites, despite its flaws.

Frank for characters. :)
And Oscar.
And Kamon Senzu.

Diamond and Pearl is really doing it for me, but I really enjoyed most of Battle Frontier and Advanced Battle.

Tag Battle is probably one of my favorite mini-arcs, as well as that Lake of Rage one.

- episode(s)
- movie(s)
- character(s) - can be one-time, recurring, or in the main cast
- season(s)
- mini-plot (don't know what else to call it, but I mean something like the episodes with Cheryl and the honey)

episodes - I'll have to think for that one. I liked the Slowpoke one in Johto where everyone was at that Buddhist temple, Fashion Flash was good, episodes where everyone gets separated, Forest Grumps I loved,

movie - 7th

characters - Shinji, Hinata, Cassidy and Misty I guess.

I like the 4th and 10-11 seasons the best

mini-plot - I'd say the Clair saga but she very inconsistantly animated, the tag battle is a no-no too because I only liked it for Shinji and that's unfair...
the St Anne saga was pretty interesting. From a cruise ship sinking, to an island of giant Pokemon with subtitles for the Pokemon chatter, to a banned episode where James gets implants, you've got yourself quite the mini-saga.

Episode:

Beach Blank-Out Blastoise.

Movie:
Mewtwo Strikes Back

Character:
Gary Oak

Season:
Kanto

Mini-plot:
Silver Conference

- episode(s)
Too many to list! One of my top favorites would definably be "Do I Hear A Ralts?", though.
- movie(s)
Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, Jirachi Wishmaker and Mewtwo Strikes back.
- character(s) - can be one-time, recurring, or in the main cast
Max, Drew, May, Ash, Flannery, Gardenia
- season(s)
1, 8, 10
- mini-plot (don't know what else to call it, but I mean something like the episodes with Cheryl and the honey)
The Larvitar hatching one.
Also, this may be a funny question to ask about the anime, but which character, apart from Ash, do you think goes through the most development?
Hm... that's a good question. Misty or Brock maybe.
