Favourite Fire Emblem Characters - Bad taste may be prosecuted

I've played from FE6 and up, so quite a few. I can't speak for personality, although Kaden and Keaton make me lament Nintendo having ripped out skinship in the NA version. so furry~

6: Fir is just amazing, especially paired with Shin. They're enough to break past even Hard Mode, which compared to most difficulties in later releases, that's pretty hard. Lugh and Rei are fun when they're not RNG screwed. Roy only gets three maps as a Hero/Great Lord and is generally shafted compared to the other lords in the series. Personality's good though.

7: Raven can't be beat with a HHM bonus and is usually my MVP. A shame that all the paladins suck, their movement is appreciated in saving Jaffar. Also, the idea of three lords being forced to deploy in your tiny slots is infuriating. Never gives you any freedom to really make an original team.

8. Just went through another playthrough of this recently but died of apathy on Orson's morbid map. Gerik is great as a Bowknight, Cormag and Seth are both fantastic. Ephraim can't stop leveling up in all his stats. Don't care much for his personality, and Eirika doesn't really have one to call her own.

9. Hoo boy, let's see. I love Ike (duh), Boyd, Oscar, Rhys, Mia, Rolf... Basically all the Greil Mercenaries. I used Titania last run and she disappointed me with crappy Str and shaky Spd. Soren is bleh, everything from his cloyingly obvious sob story to his mediocre stats. Ike is probably the most believable protagonist any Fire Emblem's ever known, and I feel similarly with Chrom.

Did I mention I love Ranulf? No? What do you mean you can't really use him? Comes as late as Harr? Nahhh...

10. Same for above, but for new additions I do favor Nolan, he's pretty solid if you train him up. I usually work on Eddie too, but Zihark and Nolan give a freaking 45 Avo that not even dragons can hit.

Miccy's okay. Kind of bland and a female Sorem for the Branded plot. So maybe she's the rightful apostle and true heir to Begnion... but do you get to use her enough? Not really, and what can be expected from a fragmented game?

11. Shadow Dragon remake. Uh... not much to say here. In retaining the characters' original dialogue, they... don't talk. Ever. Marth, Caeda, Julian, Barst, Merrick, Wolfe and Sedgar--use these and win.

13. Awakening! Enter characters with substance. My favorite all-time character throughout the series is my waifu Lucina. She is just so cool, yet sensitive, and filled with mystery and doubt. Chrom is like a mix of Marth and Ike--a prince of princely lineage that's just as down to earth as the rest of them. Other mentions are Lissa, Lon'Qu, Gaius, Nowi, and Tharja, the latterly of which is resoonsible of climbing Lunatic with Nosferatu.

14. Keaton and Kaden for starters, though the former has performed poorly on my recent runs and his daughter is twelve times more proficient. Kaden's such a dork with the grin and the tail I could just squeeze the cw-rap out of him!

Otherwise, characters like Niles and Kaze are a staple in Conquest Lunatic runs for debuffing and nabbing Rallyman. Not as good as Xanderman, but pretty darn cool. Selena is both beautiful and adorable, and she has such a wide array of class options that there's truly no going wrong with her. I like Camilla, but contrary to the two big reasons why most people choose to use her, I use her for her ability to squish things with her Hammer. (Or Bolt Axe, forged Steel and/or Thunder.)

Plus I'd be insane not to use her. Same with Xander.

Did I mention Corrin is a cornflake with a terrible personality? I did, didn't I. Surprisingly though, he married Felicia this run and is turning out to be a beast with his Levin Sword. just wait till he gets his wheels...

15. Valentia... Played the game twice. There's really not much to say in the way of characters. Kliff is my favorite, though. Never let me down once, especially when I made him a Paladin. Alm's Double Lion was cool. Celica never had enough movement to kerp up for long, but Saber and Deen sure picked up the slack. Those guys are awesome!

Innes (Sacred Stones) is my absolute favorite FE character and one of my favorite characters in general. From his elegant character design to his personality that is very relatable for me, to the fact that he's a sniper (archers are my favorite FE class), and he's a fairly prominent character in my favorite Fire Emblem really pushes him to the top. Oh, and he's an older brother. I, uh... really have a thing for those in fictional characters. I'm so glad he got some good art in FEH... even if my luck is horrible enough that hundreds of saved orbs never get me him. Maybe someday my prince will come home...

Other favorites:

Ephraim (Sacred Stones) - best lord in the series. He's my second favorite character in the series in general, and I love his relationship with Eirika. The way he acknowledges that he loves to fight even as his sister is much more of a diplomat has always been something I've found interesting about him (that said, I also really like Eirika). He's also pretty monstrous as a unit for the entire game, and Reginleif really carries his early chapters.

Takumi (Fates) - Honestly, Takumi was the main reason I even caved in and gave Fates a chance after I was annoyed with the direction of the series lately. I enjoyed the games for what they were, though I suppose that's getting off-topic lol. Anyway, Takumi also has the aloof archer thing going on that I love, and I stand by Takumi as being the most interesting and well-written character of the Fates games. He doesn't kiss Corrin's sorry rear end like most of the rest of the cast does, and he is justifiably suspicious of someone raised in Nohr. I also like his insecurity and desire to really prove himself, and the fact that underneath his prickly facade, he is a genuinely good guy. He and Sakura also have my favorite sibling bond of the Fates games. Very cute.

Gerome (Awakening) - One of the diamonds in the rough of the Awakening cast, which I'm not nearly as fond of as many other fans seem to be. The way Gerome both literally and figuratively wears a mask around others and tries to avoid making emotional bonds as a defense mechanism to avoid the pain of losing people... That's the kind of personality traits that I am all about lol. To me, the way he handled coming from a ruined future of loss felt the most believable and sympathetic. Also... he's cute. I think he looks best with Frederick's dark brown hair personally, but the default pink-ish hair is nice too.

Those are the ones I like the most, but I'll just list out my remaining six of my top 10 without any commentary since this is getting a bit long:

Eliwood (Blazing Blade)
Hector (Blazing Blade)
Klein (Binding Blade)
Shigure (Fates)
Quan (Genealogy of the Holy War)
Conrad (Shadows of Valentia)

On a new playthrough of FE6 and 7. Allen and Lance are totally awesome, and I never knew just how much! Incidentally, Saul is also the best and easiest to train healer. Really want to give Tate a try on my HM run.

On 7, I really like Matthew, which may shock some of you. Really great early game with triangle Hector > Oswin supports. Can't wait to make him Assassin.

Tried out Kent, really is rather mediocre. Lucius is just amazing--like a Nyx glass cannon that doesn't suck.

Right. I played Path of Radiance or whatever it's called for about two days, but I took an arrow to the knee so it didn't work out for me. But I came away from it with a great affection for...
...
...
Well, not the wimp that Ike has in tow because she pissed me off. I like Ike, basically, and the jerk that's always cursing at him. Purple hair. Long face. Something like that.

Then it's Awakening and Fates.

Awakening:

Henry - Creeps unite!
Libra - He draws. I draw. It's only natural.
Cordelia - Stop drooling over that good-for-nothing bastard and I'd like you a whole lot better, but red hair and a Pegasus are endearing qualities.
Sully - Sass

....... yeaaaaah I'm very critical about characters nowadays. I'm sure there is more, but I overplayed the game to death because I was never happy with my hair...

Fates:

Hayato - Alright, so fight me! He's awesome!
Silas - Cool dude.
Orochi - Awesome.
Rhajat - Not an unexpected choice am I right
Subaki - He kills everything, and we have a lot in common. For one, we are perfect.
Hana - She's overpowered and I like her hair.
Hinoka - Scratchy voice and awesome design.
Jakob - One word... tea.
Izana - Cool.
Dwyer - I'm sad that we're alike but oh well.
Hisame - Kill everything!!
Caeldori - Looks great with blue hair.

I don't like Kagero because her hair is greasy, she's weak and looks like a man, albeit a very chesty man, and Sakura drives me up the wall because her default expression is hideous (why can't she look like her cut-scenes dammit) and stammering is f-cking annoying. 'O-oh, s-sorry! I-I w-wasn't l-looking w-where I-I w-was g-going...!"

My girlfriend tells me all the time I need to play the older FE games, so I definitely plan to in time. I only started playing FE with Awakening, and I have yet to play Shadows of Valentia. But I've been playing Heroes so I'm at least familiar with characters.

But my faves from Awakening are:

Miriel - First wife in my first play through as a male. Absolutely loved her in my play through since she doubled foes a ton. And I love how she's smart, yet doesn't get simple obvious things.
Cherche - Absolute powerhouse who I didn't start to appreciate until I played heroes. But her design is really cute in my opinion.
Maribelle - I just find her cute, though I kinda like the "rich" girl type in games so..
Cordelia - This youtube video made me appreciate her since I tend to act similarly.
Olivia - Just because Soleil tbh, though she's also my only dancer in heroes so I can't rag on her.
Inigo/Laslow - He's a shameless flirt. So I can't help but like him. I do like that he dances though, it's cute.

Fates wise, I've only played the Nohrian route but I like:

Camilla - She's a doting big sis, and loving. I like that about her.
Keaton - Legit all I think is puppy! When I use him. :v
Elise - Too cute to hate/ignore. Precious, precious cinnamon roll.
Charlotte - She's really cute.
Soleil - Probably my favorite FE character to date.

Rest of the characters imma just list cause I feel this post is long enough. :v
Ophelia, Velouria, Hinoka, Selkie, Sonya, Morgan, Gerome, Eliwood, and Celica.

@FinalArcadia

You forgot the part where Takumi goes batcrazy and starts shooting lasers at you. That's also a likable part of his character.

@Revenge of the Boyega

Chrom's the B for not wanting to return his stalker's affection? But really, it makes no sense why the two can't S support, save for the fact that they wanted to drive home a tired unrequited love theme and make Cordelia miserable. It's just like Yusei and Akiza from YGO5D's; Akiza pretty much throws herself at Yusei and proclaims her love for him, but he's just all, "Huh? What? You say something? No? Okay."

Always wanted to work on Henry but never needed to because of Tharja. Plus he comes at a really, really bad time and is almost impossible to train in higher difficulties, even with Nosferatu.

I'm guessing you didn't pick up Conquest? I only see Hoshido characters there, but many of which are quite valid. Sakura's stuttering gets to me too, but I disagree with Kagero. She looks rather feminine to me, and her anatomy makes it physically impossible to be a man. No Ryoma on your list?! Have you no shame?

@Dolce

So then we both think the same thing for Keaton? X3

@Incinerawr Well, my first play-through I played as a girl. Better choices, seemingly, and I have an affinity for them. Girls, I mean. They're nice.
Anyway, I had no f-cking idea that I'd be married to Chrom by default at a certain point after attaining a specific support rank.
So yes. That's what makes him a total git in my eyes.
Unrequited love is pretty boring if done wrong. And it's always done wrong.

Henry is so overpowered. I agree that he comes at a late point, but switch out your lousiest member and you won't regret it. He's brilliant.

I wanted Conquest, but it wasn't actually my copy. If I had played it I probably would have been a girl again and married Leo. The guy customisation options are pretty dull. But if I was a dude I guess I'd go for Soleil and maybe, possibly, Charlotte. I mean, she's nauseating, sure, but I liked her facial expressions when I fought her in Conquest and that's sort of important. But Hinoka and Orochi rule. Originality!

She's the manliest woman in the cadre! I mean, you can put some oranges beneath a long-haired guy's t-shirt but the end result is just disturbing. Especially if said guy has greasy hair. And someone should explain to the Japanese that having hair in your eyes is pretty unsuitable for battle. Just a thought - admittedly a disgustingly radical one, lmao.
I found Ryoma to be a little lacklustre. Now, as for Izana... make him the elder brother and the game would be improved by several crucial shades of awesomeness.

Berkut

I'm glad your list didn't include Celica. I only watched someone play bits of SoV, but the little I saw of her... she drove me up the wall. Someone set out to perfectly embody a Mary-Sue and they succeeded beyond their wildest dreams - making the most contemptible princess/warrior/orphan/priestess/Good Samaritan that was ever devised. But Berkut seemed awesome.

@Revenge of the Boyega God Celica was the worst. Not just because shes the perfect Mary Sue but because she ALWAYS made the wrong decision that ended up screwing everyone over. I probably got angrier then necessary when playing her side of the game .Berkut however is great. Its just a shame he wasn't a playable character.

Great minds think alike.
I wonder if some people actually find that sort of thing to be endearing...? I can't fathom it, personally. And laying on a thousand different titles and attributes upon a single character is just a recipe for repugnance. C'mon - amnesiac royalty? Who isn't vomiting right now?

I love misunderstood characters, or people with genuine issues. So a disdainful jerk of a megalomaniac is right up my alley.

Berkut however is great. Its just a shame he wasn't a playable character.

Actually, he was. If you look on Fire Emblem Wiki/Serenes Forest you'll see that both Berkut and Rinea were originally playable characters, having a complete list of turn, battle and grief quotes. The reason why they probably didn't include them is because you already get Zeke and Tatiana in Alm's path, which are Gold Knights and Saints respectively.

But yeah, Berkut is amazing. He inspired me so much that I actually made a character like him in my novel, AND I designed my avatar in Lunatic Conquest after him, giving him his name and making him a Paladin. A Levin Sword Paladin, but an epic Paladin.
