So what do you guys think? Should Ash get a female rival? A real rival and not like that girl that Ash gave his beedril to. I think her name was Casey.

I think Ash should get a female rival. Its about time that we saw a girl battling and not the usual contests.

Sure, why not. It's been too long since I've seen real female battlers. Most now seem to be either Gym Leaders or Coordinators.

Totally agree. I think it would be great to have a strong female pokemon trainer competting with Ash and being his rival.

Casey, Sakura and Lyra say hi.

I already mentioned casey. I have only seen season 1 D/P. So don't know anything about Lyra. I did forget about Sakura though.

But how many times has Ash battled these 3?
I know that he has never battled Sakura. 1 battle with Lyra, i think and i'm not sure about Casey.

I'm saying that we need a girl like Gary or Paul. Not necessarily similar in personality but in the number of times they've fought Ash.

Honestly...

I think a female rival would be a good idea, except for the part where we add another side to the dodecahedron that is the Ash Pairing Wars. Actually, if he gets a female rival, make her ugly. Like snaggle-toothed with quasimodo-esque features.

Okay, that was a joke, but still. I guess I'd laugh. It would be nice, though, to see a real female rival that is serious about gym battles. We've already gotten our fill of male coordinators, so a female gym battler would be cool, except for the formentioned reason.

Blue (or Leaf, as Bulbapedia calls her).

EoT.

EoT as in end of thread? If so I doubt that a in-game character would be a valid reason to end a thread, plus I think the OP is talking about Gen V, why would they bring a Gen I character into Gen V?

Why would make a Silver ripoff or a Harley ripoff in Gen IV then?

Besides, Blue was scrapped in Gen I. Her true introduction was in Gen III I believe.

Well it'd be a change of pace and frankly I don't see any reason why he shouldn't have one.

Its quite unlikely that the writers will introduce blue/leaf in gen V.
Not if she has some role in the next games as Red does in the Generation II games. Regardless of how likely it is, I have little doubt that she would prove to be the best option for Ash's next rival.

Of course. There's no reason why he shouldn't. I'd especially love her if she was an established trainer, as opposed to a beginner.

Why not.Yes,it would be great if Ash finally received real female rival. So far his rivals were only males, and it would be nice for a change having some girl trainer doin gyms providing rivarly with him,and challenge.

The only female which could be considered being rival with Ash in past was Casey(hardly can be counted) and Macy during Johto league.

Well Misty had occasionally rivarly with him too like battling at gym,for Totodile etc,but thats a different thing.

So in short Ash finally receiving female rival would be welcomed addition bringing something new.

wonderful idea, hope the writers do give him a good strong female rival.

Nobody is saying no so here is another question.

How likely is it that Ash will get a female rival?

Well since she already got one, Nanako, I say quite possible. She can be the next secondary rival Satoshi has in Gen V with the game rival.

Well they're probably going to have to top Paul next-gen. Given Paul will be hard to top, the writers can throw some lee-way by simply making the rival a girl.

Everyone will simply be amazed by, "Hey, Ash has a female rival who does Gyms!" that she'll be viewed as a worthy Paul replacement.

I get the feeling any rival who comes after Paul is going to be viewed as a disappointment unless they're really interesting, so making the rival strong-willed female trainer will be nice.
