FFV and FFVI headed for the GBA?

Hmm, that would be cool. They did quite the good job with FFI&II: Dawn of Souls, so it will be interesting to see what they do with this.

*Joins in with everyone else praying*

Though I do wonder why Square-Enix seems to hate Final Fantasy III (the original, not FF6) so much. It never got remade for the PSOne, and it doesn't look like it'll ever get remade for the GBA either. In addition, the game is the only Final Fantasy game to never be officially released in the US. Is the game that bad or what?

FF6 rocks my socks. it would be great to have a handheld version of those games. I've not played 5 yet. I *think* i have it in my collection of Japanese SNES games but i dunno.

The thing that worries me is that, if and when Square decides to port FFV and especially FFVI, the GBA will be pretty much finished in the west as the DS and PSP start to divide up the market. Sure, Japan may keep buying it, but it remains to be seen whether Square and Nintendo think the market will be ready to buy these games.

It doesn't matter - the DS plays GBA games so even with the GBA/Micro gone by the eventual release of FFVI, the DS will keep the market available.

Then they wouldn't be buying games that are over a decade old.

GBA games will dwindle, but they'll do so slowly thanks to the DS and what's more you could release any game for the GBA so long as the DS was on the market.

I think US gamers will buy FFV and FFVI. I mean, if they bought Final Fantasy Origins after the PSOne was pretty much dead, then they'll have no trouble buying FFV and FFVI on a format that their DS's and GBMicros can play.

The opening flash movie on the Final Fantasy IV Advanced pretty much confirms that remakes of V and VI are coming.

What I wonder is...why has it taken so long for Square-Enix to get these games out? I have trouble believing that Square-Enix just now realized that porting these games over to the GBA would make a crapload of people happy. These games should be been ported over years ago.

I'm just glad the games are coming out, period. I was worried that they would be cancelled since the GBA is, for all intents and purposes, a dead system. Glad to see Square-Enix is finishing out the SNES ports.

FF3 is scheduled for the DS.

I heard about that too..... and will be very happy if/when it finally comes out in the US. This is my favorite of the famicom FF games! I just can't wait to see a proper translation..... and finally get to know WTF an "onion kid" is!

FF3...... one of the better games of the FF franchise!
