Fic Ideas to Good Homes!

Have you ever had a concept for a fic or other piece of creative writing you think has a lot of potential, but you don't have the time and/or energy to create it yourself? Do you often find yourself in the mood to write something, but are lacking in ideas for what to write? If you fit either of those descriptors, then this very well just may be the thread for you!

Here in Fic Ideas to Good Homes, you can share writing concepts and prompts that have been bouncing around in your head for others to use freely as they wish. It can be a specific plot about a certain set of characters, or just a trope you'd like to see expanded on in a certain way. Any idea is welcome here!

Just remember, this thread is specifically for plot ideas you don't intend on actually writing and are okay with other people using! Not just for any plot idea you have that you plan on eventually writing, there are other threads for that.

a trainer and their Pokémon battle for the badges, but it's actually the Pokémon who wants it, the trainer is just there to make it happen (and to prevent everyone trying to catch this clearly unique, powerful and masterless 'mon)

speaking of which, alternatively a Pokémon sets out to defeat all the Gym Leaders, all by themself, to show humans that Pokémon are the stars of this show, not them puny armchair generals; kinda the same way Korra would do all the battling herself if she found herself in that world instead of letting the 'mons have all the fun! up to the writer if they want to wrestle with the whole "catch on sight without an owner's Pokéball to protect them" can of worms

This is roughly what I do with Nori Carino and the Demon Nidorina. He doesn't journey, but he does give her an outlet for fighting without any aspirations of his own (most of the time). And more importantly, she likes that, especially that he doesn't tell her exactly what to do all the time. And he's been in a few fights himself, including a sort-of-one she witnesses, so when he does, she can trust his word.

I had a PMD idea in my mind forever if I'm ever to write one which is incredibly unlikely: set it entirely underwater with nothing remotely humanoid in the cast, or at least very little and not the main cast: otherwise all fish, sea serpents, and other strange sea life. Yeah, definitely not what most PMD fans would be looking for, but it'd be different!

This thread is specifically for plot ideas you do not intend to keep that you want to release out into the world for others to use, perhaps i should specify that in the first post.

Spoiler: Somewhat morbid rambling about ghosts

While browsing Wikipedia for articles on random weird spooky stuff, as one does, my mind starting wandering:
-huh, lots of ghosts in legends are people who died sudden, unusual deaths.
-getting killed by a ghost would certainly be a sudden, unusual death.
-so I guess in a world where the ghost stories are real, you'd be likely to become a ghost if you were killed by a ghost.
-wait, hold up, a ghost who's super salty and petty to its "roommate(s)" for offing its human self could be really funny, actually. Why have I never seen this done?

There's a chance I'll use this someday, but I don't currently have a 'verse where it would make sense, so...feel free to use this if you also think it could be funny.

Is it just me, or is there a vague power scale for ghosts based on who they were and how they died? This might be mostly just vibes, but it feels like male ghosts in stories are usually--functionally more or less just a human who happens to be phantasmal? Like, they can be scary, but it's often due to being someone aggressive in life and just continuing the trend. If the man is a powerful ghost, he's probably someone who was really, really screwed over in life.

Adult female ghosts are more often treated as an overarching force on the place they haunt. There are ghost lady stories from everywhere and some of them don't even have a clear backstory, they are just The Entity(TM) of a location.

Child ghosts seem to range from "swarming into an overarching force" (if it's a place where a lot of children met dark fates) to "feral and deadly" (especially if they died in infancy) to "start running now because they were old enough to understand what happened to them and they're angry".

The overarching trend seems to be that people who were weaker in life become stronger in death, which makes me wonder how many ghost mythos tropes are the result of peoples' consciences biting them and their imaginations coming up with horrible ways they might have to pay for what they did...

All that to say: what if there was a science to how powerful of a ghost a person would become? And what if there was a villain committing murders with the specific intent of creating powerful ghosts to use as tools for some twisted goal? The idea feels like it has potential, but it would also be really, really, really messed up and I don't think I'd be able to actually write it. Hence putting it here.

Here is something I am willing to give up due to not really being sure how to do it (plus I already have my Type Cycle Series): Since the Pokédex Entries in Legends Arceus are written in first person by Laventon, what happened that caused him to come to the conclusions he did? How did those scenes play out? Might be interesting as a story series.

i have a fic concept i like but am never going to use so i might as well drop it in here!

Some kind of crisis comes up in Unova during a time Alder is away from the pokemon league leaving the group of disasters that is the Unova E4 to have to handle things, hijinks ensue.

Here is a possible idea for a fanfic: Instead of the badge quest being something that everyone does, It's something only one person is able to do. Like, here is the possible summary: The Prince/Princess of the Kingdom sets out to obtain the Kingdom Medallions (replacing Gym Badges) to prove that he/she is worthy of the throne. The 'Gym Leaders' would be Royal Advisors or something. The "Elite 4" would be the Grand Guard. The "Champion" would be the king himself.

oh heck i didn't see this thread! i decided to do something PMD themed for the recent shipping fic contest but then i wasn't able to complete my entry on time. that fic will still come out sometime when i get the time to finish it, but anyway i completely scrapped the first draft of the story and i want to share it here because i still think it was neat even though i didn't end up using it and maybe someone else would like to run with it.

my first draft was intending to mirror SV's story a little bit; my idea was that in this PMD universe, koraidon is the sole survivor of a mass extinction event that wipes out all of the past paradox pokemon, and it sulks away for hundreds of years in its grief, until it finds out about terapagos’ powers, the same ones that enable the time machine in SV, and utilizes that power to bring back the paradoxes… but just as it is warned about in SV, this wreaks havoc on the ecology of the world, and i’d like to think that the pokemon terapagos “brings back” are not quite right; violent and “feral” because of being fueled by koraidon’s longstanding pain and grief and anger with the world. bringing back the paradox mons makes the whole time and space situation funky, enabling a human to be isekai’d to save the world, particularly because they may be a relative savant with terapagos’ technology-related powers in comparison to most pokemon.

if anyone ends up doing anything with this let me know i'd love to see it
