You can refer to a helpful guide on how to rate your stories here, but if you need any further assistance, please feel welcome to contact a Workshop staff member! We're here to help.

Thank you all for helping us ensure our community is a safe and healthy one, and for your continued patronage in our Library and Workshop.

DISCUSSION: Filler episodes/chapters

Don't think of them as filler.

The definition of filler in the context of the Pokémon anime is ridiculously narrow, for a start - there's plenty of valuable story to be told outside capturing a pokémon or fighting a Gym Battle. The second point is that filler only makes sense in the context of a story that has to kill time to meet a schedule. As a fanfic author, you don't.

Story progress can (And in my opinion, should) include character development. In that sense I would call episodes like Pikachu's Goodbye or Princess vs Princess (To pick a couple from one series) as story episodes, because they're both either telling us something about the characters or doing something to develop the relationship between them.

Oh. I didn’t think about that. Could you lock this? I didn’t realize that about filler episodes. Could you lock this?

Kind of hard to call a chapter filler unless it contributes absolutely nothing to any of the plots.

Granted, the closest thing to that is chapters that don't focus on a the main story of the fanfic or to the series if you are doing that.

Seafaring Travels

The chapter titled Lillies Secret expands a little bit of what Lillie did during the time skip between the Looker Mission in sun and moons post game and the start of Through The Sands We Go.

What sort of adventure did Lillie have on her own.
Why the hell did Lusamine recover from the neurotoxins so quickly?!
Being those two... rather important questions that is answered in that chapter.

Otherwise it doesn't contribute much to the Elio and Gladion raising a Manaphy plot other than an off screen close encounter between Manaphy and Raikou.

Most of the fanfics in the series contribute to the overall plot so it is hard to label them as filler... it depends on what the topic of the fanfic is at the time.
