Does anyone play this? It's my 2nd favourite game ever!

I played the ds version (and am now stuck in the last cave for quite a while, I keep getting killed by the monsters hidden in the chests).

It's a very cool game indeed.

It's my second favourite Final Fantasy game, and one of my favourite SNES games.

IV is pretty cool, but it isn't my favorite. In fact, it's only my 6th favorite Final Fantasy. But a great game nonetheless.

I haven't gotten far. It's nice, but I'm having tons of trouble on Cagnazzo. I can haz moar ethers, dawg?

Cagnazzo is pretty easy if you understand him. Just slow him down and spam Thunder/Dark attacks. However, when he starts tsunami, defend yourself throughout the ENTIRE tsunami sequence. :3

I have to say, I can see why FFIV is significant, but I don't think it quite deserves all the praise it gets. The plot is interesting at first, but after
Cecil becomes a paladin
it sort of stagnates, just becoming a cycle of "Cecil goes after crystal, Golbez gets it first/steals it out of his hands."

My main problem is that we're promised a story of Cecil seeking redemption for his past wrongs... but we never see any of those wrongs. The only real "bad" things he does that we even hear of are the attacks on Mysidia and Mist, the first of which occurs off-screen, the second of which he was duped into, and the both of which he was acting under orders. Granted, I don't think that's an acceptable excuse, but considering how conflicted he felt about it all along, it's hard to believe his plot of seeking redemption since he never seems that bad to begin with.

The characters are pretty cool, however, especially Rydia and Kain. Kain even has a better plot of seeking redemption for past wrongs than Cecil does.

I love this game. Definitely my favorite Final Fantasy game. I remember playing it (as FFII) on Super Nintendo and not wanting to stop for hours. I have the DS version but it is far from the same.

DS version had a lot of changes as far as enemy behavior. Monsters have scripted counters for most everything you do which makes things a bit annoying when in all they get about 3 attacks per 1 from you.

Also bosses are lot more tricky.

But it's nice to see a remake actually turn out harder instead of easier, like most do.

I really like FFIV and I think the GBA version is the best. Simply because it addresses my main issue with the original game -- it was very linear without much side material. The GBA version has A LOT of added content, none of which was transferred to the DS.

Not my favorite FF though... that's probably VI, with V a close second.

Really? I've heard the GBA version was pretty buggy. I agree, though, that it does sound appealing with the amount of bonus content, in addition to the ability to switch out your characters (something I felt was kind of an oversight in the DS version). At least this version has a New Game +, although I'm not sure if I'll take advantage of it anyway. FFV does sound really interesting, as does FFVI, but for different reasons; I'm considering checking them both out.

Dunno what they meant by "buggy". I've encountered nothing notably bad.

The only bug I encountered was Cecil got confused, released from confusion, but was still facing the party when he went back. When he attacked he moved towards the party and slashed, but the correct monster was hit.

Silly, but not game-breaking.

Music quality is kind of downgraded though, some tracks more than others.

IV was good but I feel like V just took that game and improved everything haha :smokin:
V is my favourite FF personally, but I did like the IV story and I enjoyed having 5 PERSON PARTY!!

OH MY GOD YESSSS FFVI was one of my all time favorite FF games of all the GBA Remake filled in a lot of the holes that was left in in the original version for example the fact that shadow is Realms Father and Strago's Son.

FFV was ok
but second place for me would go to FFVIII for me
With FFX in a very close third;

HAHA VI was aamzing! I never finished it because my friend beat the game in fornt of me and spoiled it lol :smokin:

I loved VII as well, I know its the most popular and VERY overrated (which I can almost guarantee you half the people who like seven never beat it), it follows in my top 5 haha

I seriously want a FF 5 & 6 port so I can play it. I don't want to get the GBA ver. cuz I'm waiting to see...

As for FF4...EDGE FTW I'm stuck at the final cave...even at Lv. 70 they diez ;D;

When he starts tsunami, you attack him with thunder, which will cause him to stop. That's the way you should defeat him.

Also, SAMBA DE CHOCOBO!

Same here. It seem(ed) likely, but with the 3DS coming up... of course, then one must ask, would they be remade for that instead? And what if they get released on Virtual Console, as FFIV already was? Would that be good enough, or does the added content of a theoretical remake warrant waiting for one? And if not, why not just track down a copy for SNES (at least for FFVI), or even PS1?

At which point, I just give up and play Chrono Trigger.

I like it, but I can't say it's my favorite (that would be VI, with IX following). However, I can say that (non-loli) Rydia is the best-looking female character out of the entire franchise. ^^

I have yet to beat the game (I've been spoiled on it, though), as I put it down shortly before the Giant of Babil. I think I was preparing myself to camp out for stealing a lot of Alerts from the enemies while there (I'm trying to collect all the items, but Jesus Christ, it took me forever just to have the damn Imp summon drop while walking around one of the lowest level areas in the game, and I pretty much gave up on trying to get the Cockatrice summon before deciding I'll wait for the Alerts). I really should get back to that at some point.

And if not, why not just track down a copy for SNES (at least for FFVI), or even PS1?

you do realize that old cartridge games are kinda unreliable nowadays due to having battery-based saving, right? And not many people enjoy the PS1 ports due to the load times (though I can tolerate them, and I kinda enjoy memory card-based saving as then you can make back-up copies).
