Finishing Diamond vs Buying HGSS

So I am chipping away at my pokedex and lately have really been putting in the hours.
I feel like I am making progress. Something like 380 captured.

Is buying HG or SS a waste of my time besides the new adventure?
How big is the pokedex? I don't really want to start over again do I?
I am tied between enjoying a new game and completeing an old one.

^I say go for it you can always trade the Pokemon over into HG/SS once your done with Diamond another good reason would be for the Pikachu-colored Pichu

I mean, do you think there will be some way to fast track my pokedex over to HGSS?
Like, are they the next ones in the series? Have I been too slow filling my pokedex? Ok it has taken 3 years.
I just don't feel like giving up on it now...

Yeah, get HGSS. Then trade pokemon with DP.

Well the HG/SS legends will make dex completion easier as long as you can trade easily between the two games, i.e. own 2 DS's.

Just completed the 'dex and found racing through other games a nice distraction as I ground my way through levelling up a load of pokes to evolve them.

I suggest sending most of your pokemon to HGSS or to Diamond, but keep a team in both so you can still actually play both. I recommend Johto pokemon to Sinnoh as the PokeRadar in Diamond is better than the one in HGSS. By alot.

I suppose it depends how much nostalgia you have for Generation II. I'm one of those guys who frittered away the best part of a year playing it when I should have been mortally embarrassing myself like a Hollywood Nerd, so I'd cheerfully never play Platinum again in exchange for it
