Yep yep read about this on The Escapist, I'm hoping it's going to be something like the accelerometer in the iPhone/Touch. So it would be like the Wario Ware twisted thing integrated into the handheld.

If you read the article it sounds more like what the DS’s successor would have to include rather than “proof” that there is going to be a new version of the DS coming out anytime soon.

Which is why it's the "DS2" and not the DSx. Likely won't be called the DS2 by Nintendo, but hey, better than my idea of it being called the 3S.

Maybe the top screen'll be touchy this time too.

be nice for multiple touch screens.

I always figured they'd include motion control to convince the casual crowd that it's not just a DSi with better graphics. Perhaps they'll also take the DSi's camera a step further and let you shoot video with this new system.

As for the name, I've always been partial to the name Super DS.

Lol going back to the SNES days?

So it will be have Wii control like features...

Looks like my nds is going to turn into rubbish soon.. (x.x)

Ah crap, I suck at motion controls on handhelds. x.x;

I'm more curious as to whether or not the new Zelda will use MotionPlus. Has there been any word on that?

I think you'll still have at least a year - year and a half worth of life in it yet.

Yeah, I'd expect it to launch mid-2011/early 2012.

It would be really nice to have Pokemon as a launch title for once, dammit.

Most people are expecting this, yes.

Emphatic yes, with claims that the sword and bow will be much more indepth and realistic in Zelda Wii.

Ah, the future of Pokemon! Now not only can you shout at them with the built-in Microphone and hit them on the head with the Touchscreen, but you will be also be able to shake them violently with the all-new motion sensor controls!

All possible with the new DSDA: DS Domestic Abuse.

Very interesting to have first indications from Nintendo of a DS successor that will actually hit the markets. A motion-sensitive handheld is a cool idea. I'm glad to hear they are stepping up the graphics, though that is expected in a brand-new console.

Only problem is it might have better graphics then the wii.
Anyway, this looks cool, and i might buy one. After all, it should have more games then the PSP.

Interesting, I.. wondering how it'll turn out. If it'll be good or bad...

I agree with most of the comments here.

On the subject of controls, the next Nintendo handheld definitely needs thumbsticks.

As we saw many times with the DS, a touch screen is not an adequate replacement for a thumbstick.

Two thumbsticks, a control pad, ABXYLR buttons, start and select buttons, a touch pad, a microphone and camera, and a motion detector would pretty much let you create any game imaginable for the system without being held back by lack of controls.

Except...it won't. The DS will still function and will still play all your favorite DS games long after its successor comes out.

Except Game Freak has shown that they're absolutely useless when it comes to using the hardware to its fullest potential.

"Highly detailed"?

What the cupcake'izzle does that mean? Better then the PSP? But the DS already has better graphics then the PSP, and who cares about graphics?

But now they have sprites that move. That's not been done before, right?

The PSP is equivalent to the PS2. The DS is more or less the same as a Nintendo 64. So . . . the PSP has better graphics, but who cares since it's mostly PS2 ports anyways?

DS2 will probably have the same level of graphics as a GameCube.
