First hint of a Generation V Pokémon appears: New presumed Electric type blocked by graphic on ...

The first hint of what could be the first Generation V Pokémon to be revealed appeared on Thursday evening's broadcast of Pocket Monsters Diamond Pearl. A feature on the 12th movie after DP105 showed Pikachu alongside a new Pokémon covered by a graphic. A voice-over by Pokémon anime director Kunihiko Yuyama implied the mysterious Pokémon is an Electric-type.

Holy CRAP. Looks like my prediction about Gen V Pokemon in the twelfth movie might be right...

Also, I can't be the only one thinking this was the electric type mentioned in the first movie 12 preview....

hm... That does sound right. Announce Gen V after the third game has been released in Japan. I'm still waiting for the release in America...

DAMN, finally. I guess Gen V will be on the DSi. Hopefully it will be compatible with the old DS.

This kind of game would be too big for the DSiware so it will be a retail title. I don't think they're gonna make DSi-exclusive retail games (DSi is just another DS redesign, as was GBC, though it had a few exclusives).

...How does Raichu need an evolution o_O

It would be nice to see the Pikachu line expanded again, since Pichu was pretty disappointing. Either via Form Changes or new evolutions for Pikachu itself.

Is the reason they're not showing us a picture because the

silhouette was blocked out in the preview?

I thought it was early for Generation V. But seeing as the movie will be released in 2009, it seems the right time and place to introduce the next generation Pokemon.

The game will not be exclusive to the DSi. First, that doesn't make any sense. The DSi is just a redesign of the DS. So, it will be the same DS cartridge as the others. For a game of Generation V, now I predict it would be some time in the middle of 2010, with a Western release in 2011, which seems the right time for the next generation of the handheld.

I bet there will be exclusive features and stuff that will only be unlocked via DSi, and that the third game of Gen V will be DSi exclusive with tacked-on reasoning.

That seems about right. I doubt it will be more than two years before Gen V now. They're going to need some filler games to pass the time. I kind of want Pokemon Colosseum 3 for the Wii, although not in Orre again - if I see anymore desert I'll puke.

A Pikachu evolution has been long awaited... Maybe a Fighting-Electric... Ninjachu? No? xD

I don't see what's so different about the DSi. All I saw was that you can't play GBA games on it, and that it has two cameras. What else am I missing?

Any remakes would be scrunched up, so that's out of the question. Other fillers would do.

It definitely isn't a Raichu evo (and yes, no, I doubt a Raichu-evo would get smaller). *bursts bubble* The new critter is roughly Pikachu's size (or smaller). So says the screenshot.

Its quite possible Pikachu (or Pichu) is getting a branched evolution.

Is that honestly the best any of you can do? An alternate form of Pikachu? I'm disappointed in all of you. At least I got a funny answer from someone that said it's just Murkrow.
