What was the first manga/anime you read/saw?

First Manga: DBZ
First Anime: Pokémon
First Anime I knew was an anime: DBZ

First anime I saw and KNEW it was an anime: Ronin Warriors
No clue what my first manga was.

I think those are right, I could be wrong.

First Manga: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gingi's Rescue Team (God, what a waste of nine bucks)
 
First Manga: Dragon Ball. More like the end of Dragon Ball and the beginning of Dragon Ball Z, really. A kid in my fifth grade class brought us the last five volumes of the Dragon Ball portion of the series and the first two volumes of the Z portion.
First Anime: Alfred J. Kwak. If that doesn't count (since it's a Dutch/Japanese effort), Samurai Pizza Cats.
First Anime I knew was an anime: Pokemon. Thank you, Time Magazine.
 
First Manga: Probably Sailor Moon..
First Anime: Speed Racer/Sailor Moon/DBZ/Pokemon (Some where a long those lines..)
First Anime I knew was an anime: Fushigi Yuugi and Slayers
 
First Manga: maybe pokemon special
First Anime: speed racer maybe... maybe thundercats, voltron, or battle of the planets. I was really young, so I am not sure.

A lot of this stuff is really hard to remember because I was in Grade School.
 
My first anime is probably Pokemon, but I can't verify that since my memory isn't so clear. ;o

I knew what I was watching was anime, because Toonami told me so. XD
 
I used to watch shows like Speed Racer and Robotech long before I knew what "anime" was.

The first anime I saw and knew it was anime was the 1996 Dragon Ball dub. I also saw some Sailor Moon at that time, but that was mostly due to my friend being obsessive about it.

My first manga was one of the Tenchi books, I think. Or Ranma 1/2. Don't really remember.

The first manga I bought in Japanese was Dragon Ball Volume 26. It was the part of the Freeza arc where Freeza starts going through all his transformations. The dub hadn't gotten to that part yet, so I had no idea what was going on. I remember wondering why Gohan and Kuririn were wearing Saiya-Jin armor...
 
What if they don't remember which issue they read first and therefore can't tell you exactly which series within it was technically their first manga? I'd say SJ counts but if someone wants to specify a certain series in it as their first (if they remember which) then they can.
