First Seasons vs. ones with May on up

Who prefers the first few seasons as to the ones starting with May on up?
I certainly prefer the first few because there's so much nostalgia growing up with it. I remember watching it on Kids WB every Saturday, and i recently saw the new ones and they are just retarded. Ash's voice is different and so is Brock's, despite them growing older, it just makes the show that much less interesting. There's some new girl...don't know her name nor do I have the patience to find out. And I read on the wiki of this that pikachu keeps shocking the bikes...cliche anyone? lol. Another thing is the Rocket team changed their motto. It sounds so stupid now!! Oh! and their voices are changed as well <.< what up with that? Koffing and ekans are gone ;( I miss them blowing smoke in the twerps' faces and stealing pikachu D:

Also, the new ones are kind of...ugly and recycled and blah blah blah.
Well i could think of a load of things..
I'm not complaining it's just...i'm not a big fan of the change in the show.

Well, I gave a few reasons that are probably not in depth but whatever. Tell me your reasons :D
Be more specific than I was lol.
 
Experienced Ash > beginner Ash
Girl star > girl sidekick
Contests > no Contests
Ash win his badges the right way > Ash get badges for free
The Pokémon has personality and development > the Pokémon barely has any of that and are mainly tools for battle
Paul > Gary
I think it's obvious what's my opinion...
 
Better with May and Dawn, awful with Misty.
 
Since when did Ash ever get a badge for free?
Contests, the opening song, May and the other girl suck.
I'm pretty sure all of them have personality lol. Gary was more reserved and Paul's just a stuck up loser =)

And I forgot that his pokes keep getting booted after every region! - keeping only pikachu <.<
 
of course the first few seasons.

Yes Ash was given quiet a few badges in Kanto but he kept improving and also won some badges in great battles like vs Blaine and Lt Surge. Plus he earned all of his badges in the orange islands and Johto.

Besides the pokemon in Kanto and Johto looked like pokemon whereas many of the pokemon in Sinnoh and Hoenn look like freaks lol. There are some really cool pokemon in sinnoh(like infernape and floatzel for example) but no one can honestly say that overall they look as cool as the ones in Kanto.

Gary to me was a better rival then Paul is because of childhood rivalry between them although Paul is a great rival too. And team rocket were alot better earlier on, and for me Misty is much better then either May or Dawn(and there was no annoying Max in the orignal seasons)

Besides Ash's orignal fire/water/grass pokemon are better then the ones later on. Charizard/Squirtle/Bulbasaur togethar are better then Sceptile/TOrkoal/Corpish or even Monferno/Grotle/Buizel. Although flying types like Swellow and Staraptor are stronger then Pidgeot and Noctowl.
 
and pokemon in the orignal series had plenty of personality and character devolopment, and if u say otherwise then u probably havent watched the earlier seasons.
 
also in the orignal series we didnt have to endure the pain of looking at pokemon like Lickylicky, Magmortar. Torterra, etc. Plus all the ugly legendaries in sinnoh, most of whom dont even look like pokemon like Garantina, Dialga, Uxie, Mesprit, and AzelF AND others.
 
The first few seasons, mostly because of nostalgic reasons.

However, I don't dislike the later seasons, I just prefer the earlier ones.
 
So this thread exist for people to express their hate towards the different characters and sagas only to annoy these who like them and cause arguing?
Everyone has his own opinion and it's useless to argue what's better
 
Not to say the older pokemon series doesn't have a certain quality for what it is, because it does. I can certainly think of many jokes and scenes that I'll probably always be able to smile at. But I dunno. I just don't think I'll ever really 'get' the whole 'nostalgia' thing.
I mean, I watched Hong Kong Phooey yesterday for the first time in years. Loved the show as a kid, when I was going through my Hanna-Barbera phaze. Seeing it all these years later? Damn, it's really not all that good. It's like, so what if it's from a point in my life that I was at my happiest? Why should that even be a factor?

That said, each series has their own strengths. Diamond and Pearl still isn't Shakespeare, but it's still ahead in terms of storyline and overall action. Earlier series have it beat in the comedy department however.

But from an episode by episode basis, ie. just going by singular ones you can watch and enjoy, completely disregarding the time period from which it originates...I don't think the consistency in quality has really changed. Charizard vs. Magmar, Heracross vs. Scizor, Combusken vs. Absol, Buoysel vs. Lucario. They're all just as good. Tower of Terror, Forest Grumps, Claydol: Big and All, The Worst Togepi Ever? They're all equally hillarious.
 
Yeah, this thread just seems to exist for people to female dog and moan about how much better the good ol' days were. I see no reason to keep it open.
