I'm referring to the song that Roxie was singing in the Verbank City Gym. Could this be the first instance of voice acting in a Pokemon game?

Roxie isn't the first; it was actually either the male choir from Ghetsis' battle theme or that guy from one of the bridges, though he was singing in japanese.

Nope, it's Pikachu in Pokemon Yellow.

As Quattro says, the first instance of voice acting was from Yellow. After that then it would indeed be the choir for Ghetsis, then Roxie and Elesa's BW2 gyms. Even then, that's only if we exclude the side series like Stadium 2 and battle Revolution.

I can understand Roxie's gym, but what the heck is being said in Elesa's Gym? D:

Thanks for setting me straight. I should have known, since I have a copy of Pokemon Yellow, but I haven't played it in a long time.

People never seem to remember Mero Mero Munna.

Colress's battle theme has "5 4 3 2 1" sung as well.

Roxie's gym theme wasn't actually translated correctly. In Japan, it's "D O G A R S Dogars!" The English would be "K O F F I NG Koffing!", but instead they went with "P O K E M ON Pokemon!" Same number of letters, so they didn't do it to better fit the tune.

You might be missing the point; Pokémon is a universal word, therefore they do not need to repeat the process for every single localisation! Sure, we're missing out on "S-M-O-G-O-N SMOGON!" but at least the localisation team kept a part of the original joke there without needing to repeat the process several times in several languages (which would be a pain especially for languages that had more than 6-7 letters for Koffing).

Nope, it's Pikachu in Pokemon Yellow.

Yellow was my first contact with Pokemon, strangely people tend forget Pikachu's voice acting.
Still, voice acting would be a neat add to next gen versions (I mean if they get to exist :sweatlol: )

Easily my favorite voice acting in this game has to be the Village Bridge's BGM after you talk to everybody there that adds something to the BGM.

EDIT: It is actually in Black and White's OST, but I never realized it lol

I guess I should've been playing with my volume up, I can't believe I missed this! haha. I really enjoyed Elesa's gym too, but it took me a while at first to notice all the people beneath the stage :p
