Ampharos was appointed as Ambassador Pokémon to Nagasaki Prefecture in part because the bright light on its tail is reminiscent of the area’s many lighthouses. The new Poké Lids feature scenes of Ampharos and other Pokémon at scenic locations in Nagasaki. For example, the lid to be installed in Isahaya City features Ampharos and Metagross at the Meganebashi (literally Spectacles Bridge in English), and the lid to be installed in Goto City pictures Ampahros and its pre-evolutions at a national park.
Ampharos is also celebrating the two year anniversary of being appointed as the Ambassador Pokémon to Nagasaki Prefecture today. The Pokémon appeared at an anniversary event at the Nagasaki Prefectural Office for a meet-and-greet, and to reveal the designs for the new Poké Lids. When these lids are installed, there will be 15 in the prefecture and over 450 throughout Japan.
