Okay, so some of my friends said to me that if you keep a Pokemon that has the ability "Flame Body" (Like Magmotar, Macargo, ect...) so I decided to test this out with my Magmotar and some Charmander eggs.

1. I put a Magmotar in my team
2. I picked up the first egg from the day care man.
3. hatched it. (duh)

TOTAL NUMBER OF STEPS TAKEN TO HATCH CHARMANDER EGG: 2805 steps

4. I took Magmotar out of my team
5. Picked up another egg from the daycare man.
6 Hatched it.

TOTAL NUMBER OF STEPS TAKEN TO HATCH CHARMANDER EGG: 5355 steps

I repeated this whole test again and I still got the same conclusions.

TOTAL NUMBER OF STEPS TAKEN TO HATCH CHARMANDER EGG WITH MAGMOTAR: 2805
TOTAL NUMBER OF STEPS TAKEN TO HATCH CHARMANDER EGG WITHOUT MAGMOTAR: 5355

So my conclusion is that if you have a Pokemon with Flame body in your team, you can hatch eggs much faster.

Ah, we've known this since Emerald. Flame Body and Magma Armor cut hatching time in half. *nod*

Congratulations, you discovered sometihng millions of people knew before you.

Yeah. In fact, I don't know anybody who doesn't use those abilities to hatch eggs nowadays.

*glances around nervously*

I.. actually did not know this.
Now I am a very happy breeder, since I've been wasting my time hatching 10-15 eggs a day having to walk the normal 5k-10k steps.

Being a breeder i am suprised that i did not know this, but now i can cut my egg hatching into half...

Nobody's mentioned Magma Armor, it does the same thing...and we knew that already too. :p

I have a question regarding this thing.

If you have more than one Flame Body/Magma Armour Pokémon in your party, does it stack?

I've tried this. It doesn't work (at least it doesn't work on my game...)

Gah. I'll be honest. I had no idea at all (but then again, I have not picked up a pokemon game since YELLOW, and just decided to pick up pearl bc I heard it was great). So it was a few years lapse for me, where I missed out on everything.

So, thanks for posting, I definitely didn't know that. Go ahead - call me a n00b, I deserve it.

To all of you out there that didn't know that.... Don't worry. It may not be common knowledge, but it's not entirely obscure. It treads a fine line between those two states. This fact is really something that can only be discovered with some effort or observation. It's not a big a blunder as you might think, okay?

The only way you could actually know is if you were a competitive battler IV breeding, or just like breeding in general.

Of course, that makes up a fair bit of the population.

Can a mod please lock this thread now.
Because you totally know when a thread should be closed. Normally we let them die on their own and that serves well enough. ...But obviously my post will prevent that.

Nebula brings up a good point though, though I prefer to wonder if you have one Slugma with Magma Armor and one Slugma with Flame Body in the party, will /those/ stack? Because I'm pretty sure two Flame Body pogeys will simply count as one and not cut the steps further in half, as it's the same ability at work, while MA and FB are two different abilities that happen to do the same thing. Who wants to try that one weekend?
