I'm currently traversing through route 217 to go check on my friend/rival at Acuity Lake. My team consists of Empoleon, Gengar, Golem, Mr. Mime, Abomasnow (all at level 40) and a "HM Whore" Noctowl, level 28 which I use for Fly and Defog. While I'm doing great with my team at the moment, I'd like a pokemon which would be a good addition to my team as it is and also be able to use Fly. Defog isn't so much of an issue, but it would help as the fog gets on my nerves. I did use Staravia up to a point but I really dislike it, and I'd prefer something other than Normal/Flying type. Is there any available potential flying pokemon I can train and use in my team?

You could go with Drifblim, he learns Fly...but he's also a ghost like Genger.

Or evolve Murkrow into Honchkrow. Both can learn Fly and are part Dark, helping you against Lucien of the E4.

Honchkrow, Crobat, Drifblim, and Pelipper can all learn fly. Out of those, Honchkrow is the only one that would not repeat a type. Crobat and Drifblim would still be good choices, though, since they're both very different from Gengar.

Thanks for the swift replies, I'll go with Drifblim or Honchkrow, cheers. Only problem is, I'm playing Pearl and I believe Murkrow is exclusive to Diamond, is it not?

Catch a Misdreavus.

Then go to GTS and put it on there for a Murkrow. I gurantee you'll get one rather quickly.

That it is. For the record, Drifblim can learn Fly, Defog, and Cut, but I figure you're looking for an actual battler.

Are you looking for an actual Flying type, or just something that avoids Ground moves?

Well, all I want is a pokemon that can Fly which isn't just a filler. Something that can hold it's own in a battle would be preferred. Avoiding Ground attacks would be nice, but it's not dire.

Drifblim has a ton of attack and...not much else aside from typing (3 immunities for the win).

Since you have a Golem and a Gengar, I assume you can trade. Trade for a Murkrow, Honchkrow is great (Or so I've heard). I'd give you one, but I have yet to get a Murkrow myself.

Well, I have a few friends with both Diamond and Pearl, so I could arrange a trade. I don't have WiFi wireless router yet, so online trades are impossible. If I was to substitute Gengar for Drifblim, I could kill two Pidgeys with one stone and teach it Shadow Ball, Fly and Ominous Wind. That'd leave me with another free spot.

Gengar is MUCH better than Drifblim. But it might be worth it if you had a good replacement. Who would you use? What else do you need on your team?

Honchkrow all the way.. it's reaaallly good. It makes catching the trio easy, and Cresselia easy. I managed to catch all four of them with a lvl 53 honchkrow in just a couple of turns. The only one that will probably give you problems would be Azelf, for that you could just use your Gengar if need be.

Also, Honchkrow with Fly/Dark Pulse can take out the entire Lucien team (Dark Pulse Mr. Mime/Alakazam/Girafarig/Bronzong, Fly Medicham). Great Pokemon =)

I am a huge FAN of Drifblim, but yes, if you already have Genger as a staple member of your team, Drifblim is no fit replacement. Go with Honchkrow. Dark Pulse FTW.
