Flying Pokemon in Diamond

I noticed in Pokemon Diamond that there is a lack of good flying Pokemon.

I want to have a regular flying party member but I can't really find any good Pokemon that can fly.


Any ideas?

Staraptor is WAAAAAY underated. But are you looking for a competetive battling pokemon or just an in-game fighter?

Drifblim has always served me good in-game. It has good HP and average offense, plus they can have that aftermath ability. But then I usually go for Giratina after national dex.

Drifblim would probably be my choice to, but I have to agree with GSC that Staraptor is underrated.

I went with Honchkrow, I caught a murkrow as soon as I could and it stayed on my battle team until I beat the elite four. As honchkrow it was able to take out medicham's and machoke's with one wing attack witch made for easy leveling at the end of victory road. It's also strong against a nice chunk of the elite four's pokemon. It took out all but 1 of Lucian's team most of them in one hit(I took out bronzong with Infernape on my first run and charizard on my second.)

I have Fly on my Crobat as it's Flying-type move...

Works nice when the opponent is confused and/or poisoned :3

I hate Staraptor. It's related to Staravia and I've seen so Staravia's that I want to kill every last one of them. I refuse to use it.


I wanted an altogether tough flying Pokemon. One I can use in completive battling and in the game in general. It's tough because I haven't beaten the Elite Four yet so I don't have the National Dex. There are a lot of flying Pokemon to choose from once I get that. For now I have to settle for in-game Pokemon. I do like the idea of Drifblim though.

Well, there really aren't many good flying pokemon in general. I personaly love Staraptor after having one on my team in every DP saved file I've had.

With no Stararptor, you have Honchrow, Drifblim, or Crobat. I suggest Drifblim, it's alright with battling.

That's an insult to many Pokemon. There is no such thing as a Flying "primary type" so it is always secondary, meaning your comment reffers to all Pokemon with secondary flying typings. Now I could think of a few which dominates the competitive game....

Use Crobat. It has the speed to put peopel to sleep amongst other things.....

Not sure what you're talking about, since Pelliper still takes 2X from Rock attacks.

EDIT: Wait, I think I get what you mean. However, if you wanted a Water attack to screw Rock types, might as well get Gyara.

Staraptor is not bad, but i think Drifblim will be a better choice. Drifblim gives more advantages

Skarmory if you want to have something defensive. Staraptor is you want something on the physical side. Drifblim or Togekiss on the special side.

Those are the best Flying-types off my head. Oh, yeah, Salamence too. But if you're talking non-National Dex, Honchkrow. I'm surprised no one mentioned Honchkrow yet.

Well, from what I've seen is that Honchkrow is pretty awesome ingame. High offensive stats, but below average speed. Still.

Yeah, Honchkrow is who I went with, I love mine, mainly cos it's shiny but Dark Pulse is such a move!

I just use staraptor to fly around he's not in my wifi battle team, He only comes out to play when im breeding and need to fly to different places.

I used a Chatot until I got my Salamence. You should just trade for a Bagon or Dratini or something.
