This been bugging me for a while now and I want everyone opinion about it.

Is everyone in the anime a vegetarian? Every time they eat it's either salad, soup or pancakes.

In earlier episode I saw people eat chicken, lobster and canned octopus but now its canned fruit, berries, apples and other non-meat foods.

Discuss/talk about it.

Ash and the gang now fear the mighty protein aspect!

anyways, yeah, I think it's the same reason Combusken said, I actually thought they were eatin Krabby and stuff before XD

that's all I don't recall is Meowth and fried chicken, I'll search it lol...

I have a hard time believing Satoshi would eat Pokémon raised for food or hunted and killed for food. No way.

Ash was dying to eat meat in the Indigo league village buffet and ate even more when he learned that trainers get free food!

Think of it as Rabbits. Rabbits are kept as pets, treated as pests and are kept to be eaten by people as well. The same could be applied to Pokémon.

There would be some Pokémon that are okay to be eaten while others would be considered taboo, like maybe an Abra, or even downright impossible to eat, like Geodude.

It probably would be considered criminal to eat a trained Pokémon, but Pokémon reared for consumption would be fine. Although which Pokémon are reared in this fashion would be up for debate.

Most likely though, the people probably eat alot of non-Pokémon fish (which they have shown alongside fish Pokémon.)

Or possibly real animals live in the pokemon world but they're not focused on.

It would make perfect sense if there were farms where Miltank and Tauros are being raised for food. And maybe Goldeen and Remoraid are being used for food as well.

There were some non-Pokémon fish in earlier episodes, but I don't remember there being any fish (or any other animals) lately.

Ash has ate hamburgers in episodes and images of Hamburgers have been seen.

In "Beauty and the Beach" Brock and Ash said the restruant they were trying to advertise has Clams as in Clam chowder and Squid and there are no squid pokemon then or even now, so I am guessing they are not pokemon their eating.

There is too much empisis on pokemon to show any real world animals and there has been a few instinces of seeing animals, like the fish in Celurean Gym in the luvdisc episode and pidgy eating a worm etc...

PDL brings up an interesting topic worth discussing in another thread. Or maybe it's already been done.

With how the Pokemon world is so technologically advanced, I would say that they wouldn't need animals to eat something made of meat, they could just program this device to make meat, that they can use.

But aside from that I think the reason Ash and Co lately have been eating non meat is because they're traveling. It's hard to stock up on meat if they're mostly in forests all the time. And we don't see enough of them eating food in restaurants (or Pokemon Centers) to decide for certain. We mostly see them eating outside, where chances are they can't obtain meat easily. And I don't really see them hunting for meat.

-People do eat Pokémon from a biological standpoint (see Diamond/Pearl library), but it is almost never culturally practiced.
-People are not usually vegetarians, as they eat regular animals, which do exist (see early anime, such as Go West Young Meowth).
-The show more recently avoids mentioning eating meat so people don't think they're eating Pokémon.

Lol! Here is another question, though if People were all suddenly vegetarians are Plant pokemon animals or pants? Those salads could have a little extra spice to their food!

I still accept the idea animals exists in the pokemon world but their populations aren't shown because they lack cool magic powers.
