Does anybody else use or plan to use foreign language in their fiction?

I'm planning on using Pipil (or Nawat in their language, and if you haven't heard of it, it's one of the most present version of Aztec, or N'hautl) for chapter titles and terms. So does anybody else use other languages in their fiction?

Considering that I'm Mexican (born in and living at), solely writing in English is foreign enough to me.

But for the purpose of this topic, I'd say I use:
  • Spanish
  • French
  • Japanese
  • Chinese
  • "Native American" (Nahuatl, Raramuri, etc.)

Well, I keep to foreign languages that I am actually somewhat fluent in (German, Russian) and the occasional dash of Japanese when the setting requires it. Oh, and there are several Native American terms in Crossroads, too.

I have plans for a character that was raised in France and if she doesn't know the English word for something, she will begin to break off into ridiculous bursts of French. Should be fun.

It all depends on the situation if you have a French OC french would be appropriate

I love that! I'm planning to make a French OC too.

For my fan-fictions, I always use Japanese chapter titles. I use Latin too sometimes and a little Russian.

I'm planning to use French or Japanese for a future fic. I'm also planning to use one of the languages that my ancestors spoke: Norwegian, Swedish, Czech, Slovakian, Irish, or maybe Scottish Gaelic!

For Loading... Please Die and some other fics I'm planning, I'm going to use a translator to make it Latin.

Or Pig Latin.

I use other languages mostly in names, but not that often.

Besides a few minimal things like names, I tend to just have everything in English, though in the case of some non-bilingual foreigners I'll throw in a few lines of foreign-language dialogue in to illustrate the point. What I use varies depending on who's native to what country - the languages and regions I tend to associate with one another are:

Kanto, Johto & Sevii/Japanese
Hoenn & Orange Islands/Spanish
Sinnoh/German
Unova/French
Orre/Native American (various)

I thought Sinnoh was French? Considering Fantina, I mean...

Actually, Fantina states that she's foreign.

Besides that, I'd probably use languages I know (i.e. English, Spanish and Mandarin...top three most spoken languages in the world =P) and I don't see why anyone else wouldn't use their languages in fics. If you look in a book, any book, there's bound to be foreign or non-comprehensive speech, and it works. I'm all in for this.

See my signature.

Yes, Japanese all along, not a single word of English.
