Ambassador Geodude at the unveiling ceremony in Iwate Prefecture
Pokémon Local Acts has announced four new Poké Lids to be installed throughout April in Iwate Prefecture in Japan. Poké Lids are donations from The Pokémon Company to prefectures, and along with events and merchandise hosted by Pokémon Local Acts, are intended to encourage tourism to various areas of Japan.

Geodude was chosen as Iwate Prefecture’s Ambassador Pokémon in 2019, one of the first Pokémon to be given the position, and is beloved online for its PNG background legs. The new lids feature Geodude or Alolan Geodude with other Pokémon at scenic locations around the prefecture. For example, the lid to be installed in Shizukuishi Town features Geodude, Rockruff, and Wooloo at Koiwai Farm, which has been in business for over 130 years, while the lid for Yahaba Town features Geodude with Hisuian Growlithe and Sunflora, due to the area’s densely blooming sunflowers being a tourist attraction.

Geodude, wearing its ambassador garb, attended the unveiling ceremony yesterday in Iwate Prefecture. When all these lids are installed, there will be 35 throughout the prefecture and over 450 throughout Japan.
