In the Z-A Battle Club, up to four Trainers will be able to take back in points-based link matches lasting for three minutes each. These battles use the same real-time combat system as the rest of the game, where Trainers and their Pokémon can move around a 3D space. In this form of battle, attacks may deal damage and effects within a fixed range or area of effect, meaning Trainers won't just be limiting to attacking or defending against a single Pokémon at once. There's no need to take on opponents face-on either. Sneak up from behind or to their flanks, and take out your opposition after they've weakened themselves against each other!
When a Trainer's Pokémon is knocked out, the trainer and their Pokémon are returned to their starting point, fully restored and ready to jump straight back into the battle. The Trainer responsible for knocking them out meanwhile earns a point. At the end of the match, the Trainer with the most points wins.
During the match, a variety of items will spawn around the arena, which players can collect to provide a temporary boost to their Pokémon's stats. Mega Power orbs, required to Mega Evolve Pokémon during these battles, will also spawn in this manner.
