Foxtail Grass and Kitties

Alright, I'm curious. What's the deal with associating foxtail grass and cats? We have Skitty who has the grass for a tail and plays with it, Macha the cat AI from .hack loves it, and Nyaromon the Digimon attacks by turning its tail into foxtail grass.


What's up with this? It it like the Japanese version of cats and string or what?

Huh? I always thought this was a thing with Americans too though.. I remember using fox tails to tease my friends cats as a little kid. (when there were no cat toys around)

I guess I didn't consider that it's not normal..

Fox tail grass is the poor man's cat teaser. Though I'd pay a nickle to see a cat mess around with a real fox tail still on the fox. *Is not cat person*
