I love Free Comic Book Day. Just...a genius idea.

Details revealed for this year, so far (source):

Date: May 5, 2007

Comics Available: Full list here. These include a couple of DC books, a couple of Marvel, a Transformers Movie prequal book, a Family Guy/ Hack/Slash flip book (two books in one), and from Wildcard Ink...Gumby Special 2007.

Covers and info for some of the available.
Covers and info for the rest.

This is truly a great event. I recommend ANYONE even REMOTELY interested in comics (or any of the material in the comics available) and has a comic book store near you...go on this day. I've NEVER heard of ANYONE having a bad time, regardless of where they live in the world. It's a great experience.

Find a comic book store near you (US and Canada).
Find a comic book store near you (Ireland and the United Kingdom).
For everyone outside of these countries...I've no clue what to do for you.

Damn. No Electric Tale reprints.

Damn again, there are no comic shops in Welland. That's a burrow of Niagara Falls - which is where the closest comic shop is.

I love these things. Lots of the comic book creators that live in Atlanta come to a shop within ten miles of my home. :p I annually make a fool of myself there, but hey, at least I get some comic signings.

I'm going to pick up the Spider-Man issue. I liked the X-Men/Runaways one from last year, so I don't see any reason why not to. But I hope it's longer than that one was...

We norwegians have to go to an Outland store, of which there are... 6 of total in the entire country, I believe. And I'm not sure if I'll be in the vicinity of one this day - I'm not planning on taking a 2 hour ride by train each way to get free comic books.

To be honest, I'm not even positive where all they're doing it, outside of the English-language countries (due to many of the bigger publishers using affiliated publishers for translations and distribution).

Lucky dog. We have, I believe, ONE comic book writer and/or artist living in the state. And he works at a comic book store, so...not exactly difficult to get him to sign something. Nice guy, though.

Honestly, it'll probably be like last year. Shortened story, then advertising for other works (gotta make back their investment). Personally, I'll be picking up as much as possible. I love the Tokyopop collections. And last year's Liberty Comics was interesting. And Image's handout is always good.

It's usually new material. BUT most of the comic stores around here have sales on these days to further take advantage of the influx of customers. But, I promise nothing.

Yeah, you'll have to go to a chain that imports comic books directly from the US if you want these things in non-english speaking countries. And there aren't too many of those around.

Marvel.com has a preview up for the Iron Man story in the Marvel Adventures 3-in-1 portion of their Free Comic Book Day stuff. Looks like the all-ages Iron Man fights Titanium Man.
