So Guild Wars is just boring to me ever since I cleared Eye of the North, and ever since the Shaiya GMs got struck with an unfortunate bout of stupid and made the game pretty much unplayable, I don't have any online games to play atm. Anyone know any good (RE: FREE) MMORPGs I could play? (They have to be compatible with Win7 Home Prem, 32-bit version.)

And please, don't say Runescape. >_>

I'm not into RPGs much (except for pokemon), however these are some pretty good free MMOFPSs, Combat Arms and Alliance of Valliant Arms.

IMO, most free MMOs, especially the state-side/English servers, have one of a few problems:

1. Cash shop abuse
2. Crappy Community
3. Bad GMs and/or events
4. Over run with hackers/boters

Though the better ones I've played (that have a English server) are Dream of Mirror Online, Shin Megami Tensei: IMAGINE, NeoSteam, and Bright Shadow.

All but SMT are kinda standard Korean-made MMOs with the anime style and stuff. DOMO is interesting and has a few different races. SMT is prolly most like Guild Wars as it has a storyline (albeit one that hasn't been finished even on the JP server >_>), and is less anime-styled. NeoSteam is interesting to say the least, I honestly didn't play long but what I did play was fun. Bright Shadow is... well... kinda standard Korean-made MMO, I think I just liked the graphics or something.

But I'm not playing any of those anymore. >_>

Guild Wars is prolly one of the better F2P MMOs out there, but I suppose this dry spell until GW2 is quite boring, right? xD

I agree with all of that, especially numbers 1 and 3, but they're really my only option, since I refuse to pay for a subscription-based game like WoW or AION simply on principle.

I've tried both DOMO and SMT. (Their North American servers are both run by Aeria Games, the same company that runs Shaiya here in the states.) I didn't take to DOMO because I didn't like the graphics. I prefer something a little more realistic in my MMOs. As for SMT, while I did like the fact that it had a story, and the fact that there was a good amount of character customization, I got frustrated with the battle system.

I haven't heard of NeoSteam or Bright Shadow, but I'll give them a look see. Thanks for pointing me in their direction.

Dry spell is putting it nicely. Most games would have had at least one other expansion by now. But these guys haven't done anything new or worthwhile since the EotN came out, other than the regular holiday events.

Runescape's a pretty decent one, it is boring though all you do is fight and there's cash everywhere, its so easy I don't like it but I say try it, its also medieval based and is pretty addicting I love battling in the desert, never mind, try free realms on Miniclip.

Oh trust me, I'm completely with you on this, I don't have the money to pay for subscription-based games to begin with, it just sucks that most usually have at least one of those problems. The current MMO I'm playing at the moment I haven't spotted any of them, but it just got out of beta, but thing is it's in Japanese (and currently has no US/English server), so I don't really suggest it to people. xD

I don't play many MMO'd, but I play and recommend Maplestory. The only problem is that my older brother keeps deleting it from my computer "cuz it lags the computer". (which shouldn't effect him because he has a laptop)

Maplestory is victim to most of the problems I listed above though. I used to play it, but unless you're up for grinding 24/7 through quests or not, it's really not that interesting. There is nothing besides the graphics (which are subpar anyways) and friends that can have anyone keep playing. And last I played, MS was full of a crappy community, GMs who seem to barely give a damn, the cash shop was practically worshiped, and hackers and boters filling many of the GOOD areas to grind.

And actually, most of it is a general problem with Nexon really. Their customer service sucks, plain and simple.

Trust me, I've played lots of MMOs over the course of 5 or so years. :p Most of the main stream ones I've tried, as well as some of the obscure ones.

Jagex (the guys who made Runescape) are also making a new game, which might come out in <insert year here>. You might want to try out that one, since it won't be another Runescape.

A new game from fagex called prunescape.

but what ever played that game long ago and am hoping to sell my damn account "AAAAA".

Combat Arms USED to be fun, but Nexon recently released some very unbalanced cash shop items and a new HUD that lags the crap out of most computers. I used to play it a lot before though. The community may whine a lot, but 3/4 the fun comes from irritating the kiddies.

btw, there is at least three hackers in every game you play as a low rank.

Overall, the game is crap now.
