Of course, just my luck, I run into a freakin' shiny Gastly while I'm EV training the shiny Rotom for my thread in Old Chateau. I guess this means next time I'm EV training, I'll have to find my shiny spreads and purposely avoid them.

I was debating just knocking it out and getting the EVs but I figured I might as well throw Ultra Balls at it, figuring it'd probably faint itself with Curse. Unfortunately for me, I caught it on the first Ultra Ball, at full health. This is good news for people reading this thread, though, since you basically get a free Gastly.

Hmm, what if I present the argument that in an empty party, provided you keep one Pokemon apart from the Gastlies so that you can box them away, you can have exactly five of them (original + 4 clones). That way you wouldn't waste time cloning more parties, and you can stick to that number too, with the same argument.

Ah, I guess that didn't make sense. Worth a try. I'll just be faster on the Rotom, hopefully.

Heh, it's frustrating, isn't it? I had 4 or 5 shinies on my Crystal back when I was like 10 years old, long before I knew about PID creation, RNG, etc. I thought shinies weren't all that rare. As I played through R/S/E, FR/LG, E, into GEN IV, I noticed I had not encountered a single shiny in all those games. Then some time while playing D/P I found my old Crystal cartridge, and decided to reset it (which I regret). Playing my GBC for fun, which is actually a waste of batteries, I encountered another shiny on Crystal (a Gastly, for the sake of coincidence) on route 32, right after beating the first gym. Damn. Now finally, a week or two ago, I encountered a shiny Phanphy in HG. Perhaps it's the Johto region after all.

Well, I'm just coming out of EV training the shiny Rotom so I still have that in my party as well as my Blaziken which I was using to KO some of the Gastly until Rotom was strong enough. So, the 4 shiny Gastly fill up my party. Also, you did post about 20 minutes after the others so that wouldn't really seem fair.

Thanks. It's really not as great as one would think. I always get random shinies at the worst times and I don't need them because I can find my SID without them.

I know, and you're right in not giving me one. I'm just in some kind of "lol, I'll just take another shot at it" mood, and I've been like that for most of the day now. Not something I can usually say, so it's a bit weird. I need to close this thread probably.
