If the videogame franchise was to completely start over, what would you change? I personally would limit backwards compatibility to a greater extent. At this stage GameFreak have made it almost impossible for a new gamer to actually "catch 'em all". Also, walking Pokemon were a delightful addition the two times they were used, why not keep them on if they were such fan favourites?

They don't keep it on, because they can make money off it. If every game had it, they wouldn't be able to advertise it as a new feature, and suddenly they have one less selling point, which means they sell less games, and make less money.

your talking about a reboot? franchises don't get a reboot unless they are near death. And I really like the rock paper scissors mechanic that we have had since its debut, It's a popular turn based RPG so I don't see it changing anytime soon.

If there were to be a reboot, I wouldn't want to change much. Mostly I'd want to get rid of HMs.

But if they dont keep the walking pokemon, then some people might get dissatisfied and stop buying them, thus less sellers.

Really, only thing I don't like is the effort to get rid of HMs. Atleast, as of GenV, where TMs are reusable.

I have a feeling the third version to Black and White could feature roaming Pokemon. It would certainly be a big selling point, being able to have any of the new Pokemon follow you.

I don't think the series should ever be rebooted, as such; Black and White are probably the closest we'll ever get to a reboot. If there ever was a complete reboot, they could change some of the core elements of the main series, like the Gym Leaders and Elite Four. Perhaps the final battle could be against the main legendary Pokemon of the game instead of a Champion. If there were still Gym Leaders, the badges could be used as keys to unlock gates to new areas, instead of HMs. And your starter Pokemon would hatch from an egg!

make it so you can teach moves over HM moves and have it so you can obtain every pokemon through normal game play and the apearence rate of shinys is a little lower (maby 2/3 or 1/2)

i would also like to be able to change your main sprite (ie. hair skin clothing acsessorys bags... i hate some of the bags they make you have)

I must admit shinys seem really stupidly hard to find. I mean I know it makes them more special when you do have one but in other games of a similar style like monster racer they are alot more common but you still get really excited when you find one.

If the Pokémon franchise was to have a full reboot, I would want to see a game that we'd never seen before from Pokémon. Customizable characters. Maybe even revamp the battle system, with different moves and strategies. A completely new story - maybe set in a region where there are no gyms or league challenge, something like Colosseum/XD, to allow for a more story-driven plot, with full characterization for the protagonists (I'm confident Game Freak could do this after the standard they set with Black and White).
