Man, last night was a doozy.
On my way to work I was approaching a stoplight in the right lane at approximately 50mph (the posted Speed Limit is 55mph) when the light changes yellow. Being the conditions were slippery, I didn't want to chance an accident by stopping suddenly so I made the decision to go through.
Meanwhile, an older Red Ford Mustang was sitting on the North Bound side in the left turning lane. As my car enters the intersection, the Mustang decides to make it's turn (which had to be on yellow, mind you. I can't say for 100% certainty that he turned on yellow because I couldn't see his light, but the opposite left turning lane is synchronized with my own light. [Hypothetically] if mine was red, they would have green with a green arrow. As my light turns green, their arrow disappears and our lights change at the same time [yellow/yellow, red/red]. After losing their initial green arrow, they have to yield to all oncoming traffic).
Anyways the Mustang makes it's turn and either slips on some slush/ice or stalls (I would learn later that the driver had recently purchased the car and it was a manual transmission. Drivers with limited experience driving manuals often have stalls - the same reason why I don't like to drive manual), I slam on my breaks but end up smashing into him at about his right-rear tire.
My car whips 90 degrees to the right before stopping and I catch some minor burns from the airbag.
The Mustang's rear window breaks and the car does a full 180 and ends up nicking ANOTHER car (a Dodge) sitting at the intersecting street.
I pop out of my car as one of the guys in the Mustang scream for someone to call 911. One of the guys in the Mustang is sitting outside of the car and has injured his leg (which my family is still trying to figure out was either the passenger or the driver. Me thinks the passenger because I hit his passenger side).
I run over to the guys, whip out my phone and call 911. The police ambulance and cleanup crews come in about a minute later.
After taking our insurance information, the police officer seemed adamant that this wasn't my fault at all and the Mustang had failed to yield. That combined with his his stall/slip had caused my to whack him. The guy in the third car seemed to suggest this as well.
All three cars were towed and I ended up calling my mom for a ride.
