Sorry If this isn't relevant but I considered it and feel it is. Do you have friends that still play pokemon? Or are you the lone person who still does? How many other people do you know who still play the games currently?
 
I have a couple friends who play Pokemon. But no relatives.

One still does, and he's related.

Literally no one I know outside my family does, or if they did they sure don't anymore.
 
Surprisingly I still know around 7 people who play so if I ever need trading for a guy I'm all good! :D
 
i'm 25. everyone i knew who played it stopped when they were 14. I have a good friend now who plays it and so does his flatmate.

tldr: out of a group of a dozen or so pokefans, they've outgrown it and i have 2 new friends who play it now :)
 
Non of my friends play anymore but I do think one might just be hiding it as he randomly references Pokemon sometimes.

It's entirely true. I got really into the game at the end of its popularity as I was leaving middle school, and moved my playing to the background for the next several years. In my junior and senior years of high school, I found a few people around that played the game, just enough to shorten bus trips. When I went to college, I found a fair chunk of other people that played Pokémon and nobody cared. We definitely had a party of six going to the midnight release of BW and played it for most of the next week. Good times.

So yes, more people still play these games than you would think.

I have a nephew who used to play (that's how I got into pokémon) but he doesn't play anymore :/
