Okay, FullMetal Alchemist: Botherhood, we all knew about it like two months before it came out in April (whenever volume 21 (I think) came out in Japan and the news exploded), so how do we like it?

Out of 5 stars, I give it 5.

I get really emotional when I'm watching some anime that have references to real life, me best example is Hikaru no Go. I just kind of get in touch with the characters in those kinds of shows. Since the manga is really emotional, I get into them both A LOT. Not to mention the music in the anime and the various sound effects make it feel better than the silence of the manga.

I have to say I never expected someone like Yui (Yui of all people!!!) doing the opening for FMA: Brotherhood!! Just the kind of story FullMetal Alchemist is, you wouldn't expect it! I know at least I didn't!!!! xD I have to say Again is one of my favorite songs now, although, which one of Yui's isn't one of my favorites!? xD Lie by Sid is pretty good as well too, I think.

I just started reading the manga right around the time Brotherhood did come out, which is great right?, considering how based off of the manga this new one is. Makes for very easy juxtaposin'! (I think I made that up xD) I did, although, start with FMA the night it premiered in America! That filler-like series did turn out to be one of the better filler-like series, surprisingly! I do think that the manga did turn out better though! I'm only on volume 12 right now, but I'm making by way to Volume 18 quickly by July (so I can get 19 when it's fresh), but nonetheless, I have two questions that just cannot wait:

(I'm sorry for the image size, just don't kill me!!!)

  1. Who is this boy? (It hit me this morning that it's probably Hohenheim of Light.....)
    YoungHohenheim.jpg
  2. I really want to know the name of the circle that is found in Cselkcess! Can anyone spare a few words.....? (I recognize it as the one right here in the picture above)

Anyway, this is the newly founded thread for the new (yeah, it's almost two konths old, but I don't care!) anime FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, where we talk about both the original story and it's new animated partner!

(If I can think of anything else to add, I will!)

The answer to one is
Hohenheim as a youngster, just like you guessed.

And it's Xerxes, not Cselkcess. No, I don't care what the translated manga says. If I didn't know it was originally Xerxes, I wouldn't have known where to begin pronouncing Cselkcess.

Alright, thanks. I did read that he was born in (Yeah I have also heard "Xerxes") Cselkcess (Which I think might be "Shelk-cess(?)" when pronounced) and the people there where clothing similar to the Ishballans, just as he was so I put 2 and 6 together and there I went.

I do get how the fans translate it to "Xerxes"...

Cherukchess (I think; I know what I want to say but cannot spell it right in Japanese romaji!)

Cherukchess = Xerxes
Ch- = X-
-eru- = -er-
-kch- = -x-
-ess = -es

Frankly, I can't even begin to imagine where the translators got "Cselkcess" from. And like I said, I have no idea how to pronounce that.

Although I love Brotherhood to bits, the pacing, like it did in the first anime series, is starting to get to me.
Trying to pack in as much plot in certain episodes is decreasing the face value of the series; in which Hiromu Arakawa said that she wanted to minimalize focus on sad scenes and put in as much humor as possible.
However, I don't believe I would want to trade plot for filler, so I'm kind of in limbo.
I read the manga religiously, and the new anime is doing a very nice job of capturing that magic, as well even moreso 'cause i get to hear kugimiya-sama and park-sama voice act for aru and ed again

Yeah, the new anime is really good.

I can't wait until they get to the Briggs aarc, though that's quite a ways off.

I still want a sequel to the original anime, Edward and Winry NEED to be together XD

Yeah, Briggs will be a while. I think I'm gonna get there this weekend! xD

That boy IS young Hohenheim. When i first started watching the anime the first thing i noticed was that. YES! The animators actually READ the manga this time!

You find out about Hohenheim's past later on. I will tell you this - it's epic. I can't wait.

Already have. It is very interesting, as I thought!
