What are some fun runs that aren't about difficulty but about having fun?

Can we list some of the more popular runs on Bulbapedia? The only run I can find is Nuzlocke.

Monotype run - Go through the game with only one type.
Solo run - Go through the game with only one Pokemon.
Basic run - Go through the game with only un-evolved Pokemon.
Randomizer run - Catch first Pokemon on each route while using a Randomizer. (Usually only played on ROMs and often paired with Nuzlockes.)
Speed run - Finish as quickly as possible (Usually before you fall asleep).

I wouldn't say this is a "popular" one but I think there variations similar to the Nuzlocke that I've seen some people talking about in which you play the game as if you were N, whereby you release all you Pokemon but for one after each gym etc.

The Joey Challenge- It is a variation of the solo run however, you can only beat the game with a Rattata.
Team Rocket Challenge- Beat the game with Pokemon only Team Rocket uses.

The weakness challenge was recently invented by yours truly. You can only use Pokemon weak to a ceartain type, and that type has to be one of the gyms.
Randomnizer and non-nuzlocke Metrollnomes are also fun.

My favorite is a game of chance, You catch pokemon nuzlocke style, but when you face a gym leader, or your rival then you have a deck of cards and the four suits determine your moves and if you want to switch or heal you flip a coin, heads you can, tails you can't. My friends and I play this as a full nuzlocke too, so if you fail that coinflip, it might be all over

The Scrabble challenge. Fainted Pokemon are dead, as in a Nuzlocke, but the first letters of the names of all your party members must spell out a word. No nicknaming, and the letters must be in order, so it is very difficult to swap around your team. Just so it works early game, you don't need to form a full word if you have two or fewer Pokemon. For example, it's acceptable to have Oshawott and Patrat as long as you have no other Pokemon, but the next Pokemon you catch must form the word, such as Patrat Oshawott Purrloin (Pop). If by evolving a Pokemon becomes incompatible, such as Yanma Ekans Lombre Lapras Omanyte Whismur becoming Yanma Arbok Lombre Lapras Omanyte Whismur, you must get to the nearest PC and form a new word ASAP.

I've never actually tried this, mind you, so I have no clue how well it will work.

There's the Wedlocke, which I just started out doing a little while ago. Got the idea from Marriland. Very much like the Nuzlocke, but the pokemon need to be kept in male-female pairs. Like, you have your starter (say male) and on that first route, you need to catch the first female pokemon you run into. (Say Chikorita and Sentret) You can only switch from Chikorita to Sentret in battle, and if Sentret dies, Chikorita has to avenge her. If Chikorita dies, too, after the battle, you either release/box them, and pick a new pokemon of either gender, then catch them a mate at the next route.

Bad description. Ugh. Just see Marriland. lol.

Bidoof Run :D only using 6 bidoofs haha re-name all of them and see which one becomes your favourite

The one I'm personally playing, and having a lot of fun with is Pokemon based on the same species of real life animals.

Like the one in my sig "All Mustelid Team", all 6 Pokemon must be related to mustelids (they are weasels, ferrets, otters, martens, wolverines, or badgers). Its very hard at times, 2 normal types, 2 water type, and 2 fighting type.

My next game I going to do an "All Feline Team" where all 6 Pokemon are based on cats. Its going to be fun and tough 1 Dark type [Liepard], 3 normal types [Persian, Delcatty, Purugly], 1 Eletric [Luxray]. Another one of the 5, two of the same Pokemon in the team. a male and female.

Then I'll try an "All Canine Team". They never will end.
