Fuwaraide's ability "Detonate" deals damage to the opponent if it is fainted by a physical blow, yes? Well, since Explosion is a physical attack, would the opponent take damage extra damage or does it only work with opponents attacks? It may sound stupid, but I'm just curious...

That is definitely not a stupid question and the answer is that it only works with opponent's attacks. Having faced a Fuwaraido several times in the Battle Tower, it used Explosion vs. my Curse Snorlax and I don't think it using Explosion made it inflict that much more (if any) damage then if it didn't have it's ability.
