Hey guys and gals do you remember what they did in HeartGold and SoulSilver with the Game Corner outside of Japan. Well I was wondering will they do the same if they make Ruby and Sapphire Remakes? I for one was one of the many people who loved the Game Corner back in the Gold and Silver days and was so upset that it had been removed in HG/SS and replaced with the crappy Voltorb Flip which I hate. But something that never made sense to me was why if it promoted gambling and was a bad influence on children they didn't remove it in the Original Gold and Silver I find it just absolutely redundant. So do you guys think if we do get Ruby and Sapphire Remakes that Mauville City Game Corner will be censored? Please share your thoughts on this.

Thanks for reading

The reason why the Game Corner was removed in HeartGold and SoulSilver wasn't because of the sentiment of gambling in games, it was because of new legislation that had come in. The game corner in Pokémon Platinum was rendered unplayable and references to gambling removed in European copies of Pokémon Platinum because of a new law that was introduced by the European Union between the release of Diamond and Pearl and Platinum.

Then, with HeartGold and SoulSilver, the Game Corner was removed from international version of the game, possibly to make things fair on European players (as the Platinum decision did cause a bit of an uproar) or possibly because concerns about the issue were being raised in other territories too (or both). Then Black and White came along and didn't feature a Game Corner at all.

So if we ever receive Ruby/Sapphire remakes, I imagine that the Game Corner will be removed, rendered unplayable, or replaced with something else because this wasn't a decision made by GameFreak and Nintendo as a stylistic choice, it was one made by law and the desire to keep things the same for all players.

I completly agree with Joshawott, I even forgot the gaming corner even existed after playing the generation 5 games. I just hope that it will replaced with the world tournement from black and white 2. It was a really great addition to the pokemon universe.

I don't miss the Game Corner at all. I never won enough to get the best prizes. My greatest achievement was getting the Porygon in Pokemon Yellow - the first Pokedex I completed.

The reason why they removed the Game Corner from HGSS was due to Gambling Laws as preposterous as it may sound being a Pokemon Game. I wouldn't get your hopes up for a Game Corner making an appearance in Ruby & Sapphire Remakes, they will most likely come up with a spin-off "equivalent" like the Magikarp Coin Flip.

Personally, I never used them anyway. I just bought coins for the prizes.

I thought the Slot Machines were fun. But I also would purchase the coins for the expensive items and Pokémon like Porygon who was 9999 coins. As long as the game that maybe replaces it isn't like Voltorb Flip I'll be fine.

I'd rather there be a pokemon pet shop than a game corner. You could buy pokemon and TMs to teach them. XD

I liked Game Corner, however I want to see Game Corner in Hoenn being replaced with PokéStar Studios which functions similar to BW2 counterparts.

I don't know why they don't just turn it into an arcade when they already made the Wifi plaza which you can't play without anyone else online....it seems like a better replacement considering its predecessor was called the Joyful Game Corner

Game Freak logic.

I don't know if I'm in the minority here but Voltorb Flip was awesome. Way more addictive and fun than the crappy slot games.

I'd take that in future games over slots in a heartbeat.

That's actually a great idea I can already picture it in my head.

I think the days of the Game Corner are over. But, it's ok. Game Freak will come up with some other new concept. We will see in the new games ( announcing on jan 8th, the d-day :) ).

Funny they introduced an E4 who's got a theme on gambling when they removed the game corners in Gen5 because of gambling... XDD

Was going to say this. I never really played the old slot machines because they weren't really fun to be honest. Voltorb Flip on the other hand was actually fun and challenging when you learned how to play it, so I wouldn't mind having that and/or something similar in future games.

Unova is based on New York, and in New York, I think hardly any casinos can be found, so this is also one of the reasons they removed Game Corner from Unova. The most popular gambling locations in USA are in Las Vegas.

I think Pokéstar Studios are way better than Game Corners and Voltorb flip, as I found Pokéstar Studios more interesting and challenging than Voltorb flips. Somebody are tired of playing Voltorb flips. In other hand, Pokéstar Studios, which replaces Game Corner in Unova (in fact Unova doesn't have Game Corners), would be more challenging for players than Voltorb flips.

While I do miss the Game Corners, I have to agree that Pokewood was certainly better. Except for the fact that we don't get paid for all the acting we've done

@S. S. Shadow Minun There are famous casinos in Atlantic City, NJ, Connecticut, and Philadelphia, all fairly close to NYC.

I could never get very far in Voltorb Flip, so I'm hoping for Dream World style minigames to win coins/ credits/ whatever. Neopets does that with its basic Neopoints currency, so I can't see why not.
