I am not sure if this is the right place for this thread but here we go. I remember rewatching Pokemon: Arceus and the Jewel of Life and noticed how Sheena could not connect to a pokemon filled with rage. Then I played Pokemon Ranger: Gaurdian Signs and there was something similar with capture of a pokemon that is enraged and how you could not perform a capture unless the red bar under the pokemon is gone. The movie did come out before the game. Guardian Signs was in its final stage of development before its release in 2010. See the resemblence. Did anyone else notice this. What other game mechnics do you think were inspired from a pokemon movie?

Walking Pokemon + The pointless friendship mechanic came from the Anime.

Well, this isn't one, but something I've hoped for for a while was combination moves. In the anime the Pokemon can combine their moves like Buizel with Aqua Jet and and Ice Beam. Why can't we do that in the games? Alas, maybe someday

Connecting with the hearts of enraged Pokemon could be argued all the way back to Colosseum, and in terms of the Ranger series, was seen in the final battle in Shadows of Almia against Darkrai in which your styler needed to be infused with the tears of princes to even have a chance of connecting.

What about Water Pledge, Fire Pledge and Grass Pledge?

And even if you reject those moves, there're still combinations like Defense Curl + Roll Out, where your initial move changes the effect of a later move.

Well, like I said, I hadn't used them. To be honest I had never heard of them until now.

I noticed, I just thought I should mention them.

When Grass Pledge and Fire Pledge are used together, the opponents take some damage every turn.
When Fire Pledge and Water Pledge are used together, the likelihood of secondary effects from moves increases.
When Water Pledge and Grass Pledge are used together, the opponent's Speed is reduced.

they sound really cool. I'll need to check them out and have a Pokemon or two learn one or all of them!
