It's no secret that the dub of the anime is a divisive subject. Even I, the one who gleefully and unapologetically forsook the original Japanese version for it (in no uncertain terms no less), think that there are areas about it that ought to be improved. But there's already a thread for that.

So let's do something more fun with it. Let's dub the show ourselves! The rules for this game are as follows:

-You may pick any episode you want, and must begin with its first scene once you do. Then when the scene ends, it's the next poster's turn to dub the next scene. This will continue until the episode ends. At that point, the next poster chooses an episode and begins from there.
-The only names you may not change are lead characters (Ash and any of his travel companions, Jessie, James, Meowth) and Pokemon species names. Those must remain in English.
-You were unable to purchase all the BGM of an episode, so you must replace at least three tracks from it. No fewer.
-You cannot literally translate from the Japanese script, lest you end up with an awkward line.
-In accordance to that, copy-pasting directly from the Japanese script for every single line is forbidden, too.
-You must take into account that non-Japanese people are watching your dub, so account however you can for cultural stuff that appears in the episode of choice. But don't go nuts on that. Rice balls are different from donuts, after all.
-In addition to the above rule, also note that sensibilities are different between countries (M09 Manaphy=beloved in Japan, hated in America). What's appealing in Japan could possibly be annoying or possibly even offensive elsewhere, and vice versa. So, much as it can hurt, rewrites of any kind are necessary in those cases. But again, don't go nuts on that (as in, don't turn good guys bad or any craziness like that).

Okay! Let's begin!

Ok this game is a bit confusing, but I'm just gonna say that regardless of what episodes are picked, there's no reason that these restrictions should be around. As far as names go, I would just be consistent with the ones in the games or something. As for BGM, that's a very stupid rule seeing as there is no reason they wouldn't be able to get the rights to ALL the music, including the theme songs, so I'm not gonna obey that rule at all :p . As for script, in that case I'll just do what all the good companies do and re-word it so that it keeps the same meaning, but fits the mouth flaps. Rice balls stay the same, calling the doughnuts is just stupid and annoying. I don't care about offending people since no one is gonna really notice or care in all truth, in fact I might even try to slip in the occasional use of damn just to see if anyone notices.

With that in mind, here's a basic rundown of what I would do for said episode... (pick any episode you want)

Starts off with and English dub of the Japanese opening that said episode has (you said nothing about the theme songs), and then the episode plays through with a script about as accurate as one for Naruto's dub. Music wise all music is used, but if you absolutely insist that 3 pieces can't be kept (for some dumb reason) then rather than replace it with something that will no doubt piss people off, those scenes will simply not have any music playing at all. Episode ends with an English dub of the Japanese ending song. I honestly see no reason to make stupid changes, and refuse to do so.
