Gamecube AV lead compatible with SNES?

I've got an old SNES at home which is in full working order however I don't have the AV lead for it.
I read online that apparently the Gamecube AV cable has the same shaped connector as the SNES. Some people have said it works just the same, others have said it doesn't.

Does anyone know if this is indeed the case?

If I end up getting one off of the likes of eBay, I just wanted to make sure I actually get the right thing.

Yup. Any one N64, SNES, or Gamecube AV cable will work on either any of the three consoles.

It works. Only the special "digital av" gamecube cable won't work, as it is a different socket.

As the previous two said, the GCN, N64, and SNES cables are all the same. The Wii uses a similar cable (still no fit) and the NES used basic A/V cables.

That's awesome, managed to locate my old Gamecube AV lead and got it connected
Ironically though, I don't have the power lead for the SNES either -_-'
So it looks like I'll be visiting eBay anyhow.
