On today's GameFAQs Top Ten list of the day, the top ten game characters gamers most want to be, Ash ranks #7!

Here's why:

Ok, it seems a little silly at first, but who wouldn't want to live in the Pokemon world? Sure, they have a lousy police force and terrorists are always taking over places and you're constantly being attacked by wild Pokemon, but I tihnk that's a fair trade for the ability to catch and raise your own cuddly pets to become vicious fighters. Admit it: it'd be great to just walk around with an unstoppable team of Pokemon hanging in little pokeballs from your belt, ready to fight at your command

Do you agree? Disagree? Wish Ash had gotten higher up on the list?
 
Habunake makes an excellent point... however, I doubt that'd count, PL being based on the anime.
 
Actually, Ash is one of the default names for your character in R/B/Y (and I should know, since I named my character Ash in all 3 games).

So anyway, that's why he counts as a game character. ^_^


And yes, he was indeed in Pokemon Puzzle League, even though it was based on the show (but it's still a game).



Anyway, as for what I think about this, yes I would've really liked for Ash to have been higher up on the top ten list. Of course, I am still glad that he made the top ten.

Sonic is a character in various games, cartoons and comics.

Red is the name of a game character and a manga character. Ash is the name of an anime character who has a different story to either Red and even looks different. They're different characters.
 
Yep, but no point argueing with GameFAQs. During that point in time, people didn't seperate anime much from games.

Eh, in any case, they are just referring to the main nameless protagonist of RBY who was named Ash in the anime.

Also, Ash was only a default name in Yellow. You could always name your character Ash in RB but it wasn't one of the given choices.

Aww, darn, I thought for sure that was also a default name in Red and Blue......

Oh well, I guess I only thought it was a default, but I actually put the name in myself. ^^o
 
I'm 100% sure that Ash is a default name... Wait, I'll look for my Blue game...

And Ash doesn't look that much different in Blue... In fact, he looks just like the Anime version, but in Sugimori style...
 
Sonic is the name of a game character. Sonic is the name of an anime character who has a different story to either the Genesis Sonic games, Sonic Adventure and even looks different. They're different characters.

^^^ SonicX Sonic and Sonic have the same differences as Ash and Red...

Yeah, sure, Ash Ketchup shall be more up in the list. It's very cool to be a pokémon trainer-breeder-caretaker thing.
 
It seems I made a tiny mistake...

The default name in Blue is Gary... But it's Ash in Red...

I thought for sure there was another game, besides Yellow version, which Ash was the default name in, and I was right.

His name is in Red version. :-)


And that's odd, I wonder why Ash wasn't a default name in Blue version......

I suppose the same applies to Gary, where his name in Red is the reverse in Blue

(Gary in red, Ash in Blue?)

I haven't played the game in a LONG time =P
 
Yeah, in games one of the default names for the protagonist was the colour of the game and the rival was the opposite one.

Guess they did the same thing with their reference to Satoshi and Shigeru.
