This may sound like an odd request, but if anybody knows of any RPG-style games where summoning monsters or spirits is part of the gameplay, besides Final Fantasy, Tales, Secret of Mana, or Golden Sun - could you let me know? I'm doing a compiled parody of such games and I'd like to have more examples. And I'm looking more for "Summon Magic" rather than the Pokemon colllectable creature style games.

Legend of Legaia. But it's more like magic. You fight monsters and when you have defeated them you may, if you're lucky, absorb them. You can summon each monster at a cost of MP and when you summon it it's more like a summon in the old FF games, not like FFX, since they disappear the same turn they're summoned. The summons also have a name of a technique or attack they perform when summoned and these monsters may increase in level. They also have different elements.
There is also Legaia 2 duel saga, but there you cannot absorb magic, you learn it when you're training and instead of different monsters of different elements using different skills, each character only have one monster with one element and it learns different skills of that element. Legaia is better than Legaia2.
(At Legaia there is a summon you can only obtain when at Lv.99!)

If you wanted to include MMOs, I know that Maple Story has summons at higher levels. Clerics can summon dragons that fly around and attack things for a short while, whereas archer classes can summon birds to do the same thing. Some high level monsters can summon other high level monsters too.

Wild Arms 1 was decent.

Wild Arms 2...should have ended after Disc One.

Apparently Wild Arms 3 fixed a lot of the problems the previous ones had.
