Gaming with computer game on a TV

I have a Lego Harry Potter game for windows on my Windows 7 operated Packard Bell Laptop. I also have 2 wireless XBox 360 for windows controllers. Lately I wanted to expand my view so I picked up a 50 cm HDMI cable to connect my PC to my LCD television screen.
Everything works great until I play the game, then the HDMI channel turns blank.
How can I make the game work on the TV screen?

Edit: nevermind, I found the answer (I'll tell you what it is: you have to only have the TV to project).
