What anime opened the Anime World for you? It can be more than one.

My was Mojacko and Doraemon

Mine was probably Speed Racer or G-Force (Battle of the Planets/Gatchaman).

Those were the days.

Dragonball, Gundam, Macross and Pokemon were among the first shows I watched that got me into it.

Oh cool, I love Fujiko F. Fujio's works.

Anyways, for me it was in college in the 90's when I was starting to be introduced to adult animation by a guy down the hall from me. Akira was my gateway drug into the world of anime.

For me it was either Warriors of the Wind (the horribly managled dub of Nausicaa which I saw when I was a kid) or Project A-Ko, which I watched at a friends house. It was the first time I had ever seen anything on Laserdisc. Sad, I know.

And I've never seen Akira in its entirety. In that respect as a fan, I totally fail.

Probably Robotech. I really liked the art so I looked into it which is when I found out it was Japanese and it went from there.

Same here, plus Voltron, Astroboy (80s), and Robotech... but I didn't know that they were, or thought about them as "Anime" or japanese made until much later. To me, those were just another group of Cartoons that my dad watched that I also liked(like looney tunes, popeye, and the rest). It's funny though, I remember being upset at the idea of a cliffhanger because I didn't quite get it at the time with other cartoons like looney tunes and stuff(I was really young), I felt the same with Bullwinkle.

The first series I watched that I thought of as "Anime" was Dragonball Z and Salior Moon in the 90s (to which I thought of as DBZ for girls). (I saw dragonball before that, but again I never thought about it even though it wasn't in english)
