The fact that Gems haven't been released yet (except Normal Gem of course) is kind of annoying, especially for competitive players. It seems unlikely that they'll be released en masse in XY, so I'm thinking they'll be available in-game in ORAS, probably post-game in the Battle Whatever place.

Either that or, I was thinking, the Pokemon Global Link site says "major changes" are coming along with the release of ORAS. Right now, the PGL is...pretty...sparse. It's like the very early days of the original Gen V PGL; not much to do or see, the "games" are simplistic, they're basically just random item vending machines.

So I'm thinking maybe with ORAS, the PGL will receive a major update and become more like it was near the end of Gen V, with tons to do, lots of games, etc. and that you'll be able to find/win/buy Gems of every kind.

So what do you think? Gems -- in-game in ORAS or PGL update?

There's a lot of items missing from 6th gen right now, the gems, some of the berries (I forget which ones). And Fairy still doesn't have its own type boosting hold item like the other types do (like Magnet, Metal Coat, Mystic Water, etc.). Now would be a good time to make those items available.

I would have to say in the PGL update, purely because shoving them all into ORAS would take up space where other important items could be found. If they are going to be put into the game though, I'd like them to be available through the Battle Frontier (whatever it will be). Maybe they will hold off again then, or even give us just a few? Gamefreak never fails to surprise me.

What about the Pixie Plate? Isn't that available already?

The Razz, Bluk, Nanab, Wepear, Pinap, Corn, Magost, Rabuta, Nomel, Spelon, Pamtre, Watmel, Durin, Belue, Micle, Custap, Jaboca and Rowap berries. Minus the last four (which are event exclusive and introduced in Gen. 4) all the others are available in the original Hoenn games, and the first strategy guide said some berries wouldn't be available in Kalos and tradeable from other regions. So all of the non-event berries will be found in ORAS.

All of the other types have both an Arceus plate and a regular hold item though. Fairy only has an Arceus plate.

I really, really hope this is the case. I adored the PGL in Gen V, I miss it so much and want it back.

Those last four berries aren't event "exclusive" -- you could get them in the Gen V Pokemon Global Link. I have like sixty or seventy of each in my copy of White 2.

They should be, annoying we still can't do flying gem acrobatics.

I just checked their Bulbapedia pages and all four were Events in Gen. 4 and rewards for tournaments in Gen. 5, so they're still pretty elusive.

Hopefully they are, so I can activate Unburden on my Hawlucha easier. Unburden + Flying Gem + Acrobatics = amazing.

I'm going to guess you find them under water (like treasure), the same way you found shards there.

Huh, that's weird. Oh! That's right. You could grow the berries on the PGL in Gen V and trade them to other people. That's how I got them, actually, at the Trade Post or whatever at other people's houses.

Just gonna throw a quick question in, what does PGL stand for?

Actually it's pretty annoying that not all berries are available in X/Y. Berries, nowadays, are like Pokemon. You need to trade it with other Gens. But I do not see the difference it made if it is available in all Gens.

Anyhow, gems should be available on OR/AS. I'm also wondering what would be the major focus of the changes in OR/AS. Coz X/Y made alot of good changes in breeding system that made it easier for anyone to do it, even for beginners.

XY had a huge focus on breeding, training and friendship. ORAS might be focused solely on battling and post-game content (Contests, and this so-called metagame changing addition to the battling environment)

Normal doesn't have a plate, and the only normal boosting item is a silk scarf. maybe gamefreak didn't want fairy to be OP. (In which case, the sure did their job)

There's also the Normal Gem. Normal probably doesn't have a plate because Arceus is Normal type by default. I highly doubt it's a matter of making it OP.

What they should really do is bring back the Pink Bow from 2nd gen and make that the Fairy boosting item.

That's actually a good trend. First, good breeding system, and now, a chance to have a much better battling system. Though the battling system as of now is not that bad, but there's still alot of area for improvement(if there's any).
