So I've been thinking about the sort of weather we'll see in generation 5. Kanto had Summer, Johto had Autumn, Hoenn was Spring because of the rain and such and Sinnoh had Winter, because snow. Maybe gen 5 can take advantage of the next gen hand held calender and have weather change according to date? Keep in mind I'm only assuming next gen will have a calender, since this gen did.

I'd love to see changing seasons in Pokemon. The idea of some Pokemon having different forms depending on the season is interesting, too! I can just see Vulpix changing to a white coat in the winter, a snowy Castform, a frost cloak for Burmy and Wormadam.

You can probably tell I like the idea of winter.

The only downside I can see, is that if they add seasons... They might make Pokemon that only evolve during certain seasons! The idea of waiting over the course of a year just to get certain evolutions or forms isn't exactly exciting! Unless certain places are always set to one season - Like a chain of islands or something, each one being a different season. Something might evolve into one form during a certain season, or while on the island that matches that season.

I'd love to have seasons, but I wouldn't like it to actually go by the calender, it would just take too long with there were season specific evolutions. But they could just do what the Sims 2 did, which was the season changed every 3 days or something like that

I second that... I don't like the idea of waiting half a year to catch/find a certain Pokemon...

But my ideas for gen 5, (heck! Even HG and SS!) every day the weather changes...

Example: Route 362 will be Raining on a day (randomly) and Route 327 will be Snowing, or something like that. Then the next day there's no more rain on Route 362 and Snow on 327, but then it's Raining on Route 345 and Snowing on Route 328. Some thing like that...

Random effects in Random Routes on Random Days...

But that doesn't make sense.

No one EVER said that there would be Pokemon you can only catch during one season.

Yeah, I agree with Cows Go u and lord emina that season changes would take too long. But instead of the weather being on a daily basis, it should change either every 6 hours, or every 12 hours. The pokemon on the routes could vary based on the weather too. Wind should also become a weather affect, and it could base it's effects off of the weight of the pokemon in battle.

Seasonal weather would be aesthetic. It makes no sense for it to change so fast. New weather every three months would be fine. Three months isn't even long at all.

Seasons are a good idea as long as they don't go overkill with seasonal availability. Sure, you could trade with someone in the other hemisphere, but that still sucks.

I do like the idea of, say, Fire-types and Bug-types being more common in summer and Ice-types being more common in winter, though.

I think weather would be great. Especially if in addition to seasonal weather, there is random rain, snow and whatever else they want that has a different chance of occurring depending on the area and the time of year. It would be sort of like Animal Crossing's weather, and it would spice up the routes a bit. It would also be cool because it could add complexity to battles by things like rain happening in battles not specifically scripted for rain.

However I also share the worry that they could abuse the season feature to make you wait months to catch a Pokémon.

Seasonal availability would be stupid.

They should at least improve the battle system during weather. Make it flow more smoothly. Have it rain or something the whole battle, not just between turns.

Most of you know my theory on weather. I'd like it to follow a calendar, but I'd also like if weather appeared randomly on routes. You know, fog here, rain here, followed by some patchy sunshine later in the week.
