Some glitches have been shown to work, eg the Mew glitch, but what about other, more volatile glitches? What effects can they cause? Can they still cause permanent save file deletion?

Good luck finding someone willing to risk their save file (and possibly their entire SD card?)

I was actually wondering about something like this. Are there still ways to utilize cloning glitches? I know the ones that require shutting off while saving aren't a good idea, but are there any that don't have such a high risk?

Cloning is far easier to preform in Gen 1, but it's still just as dangerous.

There are other techniques to get pokémon, such as the ditto/mew glitch, but I don't think any of them create complete and identical pokémon.

Ah, thanks. I wasn't an avid gen I player. I was just hoping to get an extra eevee, since between my brother and me that last eeveelution will be the only thing we need.

If you have any trainers who have the maximum sight range unbattled, you can use this method. You fly away from them as you walk into their view, battle a pokémon with a special stat of 102 (Eevee's id) (transformed Dittos work too) then return to that trainer's route. You will then have a battle with a wild Eevee.

The only trick I want is that Leech Seed/Toxic one, it's a big reason for me to pick Venusaur in the Gen I games.

I have been abusing the ditto glitch to capture all the pokemon that are missing in the Yellow version, including those that you can only pick one of and those that evolve by trading.
But I'm not willing to try with more dangerous glitches like the Missingno. (In Yellow at least) or the cloning one.
