Gen. IV games Wi-Fi not working with 3DS

Not quite sure if this should go here, but I need some help. I am unable to connect to Wi-Fi with any of my gen. IV games using my 3DS. The error code I receive is 51099. Support.Nintendo states that I need to re-establish my connection, but I am unable to. Has anyone encountered this before?

I think this should go in the Lost Tower Simple Question, Simple Answers thread. Are you trying to use a WPA connection? Generation IV games are not compatible with that type of connection. I haven't connected any of my generation IV games to the internet by my 3DS but if the connection is WEP or no security and it still isn't working maybe go to the system settings select internet settings and then select Nintendo DS Connections and try to connect after setting up a connection in that mode.

Indeed, as Water Max said, the Generation IV titles are not compatible with the WPA encryption that the Nintendo DSi/XL and 3DS consoles are. One of the few DSi enhanced features Black and White have is the support for a WPA encrypted connection when played on one of the consoles I previously mentioned.
