Although it would be a pretty drastic change, it might be interesting to see this region split from any other generation, with a new 150 pokemon starting a whole new set of them.

You have to admit, nearly 500 pokemon is a lot to handle, and let's not forget the 100+ that Gen V will be bring out. Though it definitely wouldn't be the greatest idea (If I couldn't get a Charmander, I'd be pretty depressed) but it would be an interesting change from the current situation.

Additionally, from Generations I-IV, there have been certain rules to pokemon games. Particularly about which pokemon are the stronger and weaker ones. I think it would be interesting to see a pseudo-legendary that was a BUG type (Bug/Ice with Levitate fits that category, or Bug/Steel, Bug and throwaway pokemon (cough Bidoof cough) that were dragon-type?

Your thoughts?

No old Pokemon? And let it suffer the same unfortunate fate that RS did? No thanks.

Do people not remember RS? Sure I loved that generation, but still, no Dragonite. My dragon team never felt complete. It would be even worse now since they wouldn't really have a convenient excuse since Gen V is on the same console as Gen IV.

I'd like it if the region had only new pokemon but you could still trade over an old pokemon to have as your starter. I think that would be a fair trade off.

I like your thinking here, I've been waiting for a Bug legendary for a long time, although I'd like it to just be a Bug type steel or ice as secondary types would make it too weak against fire. Maybe Bug/Water legendary. lol that would be interesting to see throwaway dragons, now I see Bidoof heads on Bagon bodies XD.

Part of the 'requirements' for pseudo-legendaries is that they have a single 4x weakness. Salamence, Dragonite, and Garchomp all have double Ice weakness, and Tyranitar was 4x weak to fighting. They also had one immunity, so Steel, Dark, Ghost (not a fan of the Ghost-type), flying (bug-flying? Ooh, original), or ground would pair off nicely, but Steel is the only one that gives it the 4x weakness.

Nonetheless, they still implied that all pseudo-legendaries have a 4x weakness.

Which in turn implies that they think Game Freak gives a damn about the metagame, even though from all evidence I can see the only involvement they have in it is extracting joy from the cries of competitive battlers who have to figure out new strategies with every generation's changes to the system. I really wouldn't be surprised if the conversations went like this:

"So, guys, we've already done Dragon/Flying and that's boring now, what else can we do?"
"How about Rock/Dark, that would be so badass."
"Awesome. And y'know, maybe we can do one more Dragon/Flying, it makes sense, right?"
"Yeah, sure, why not. Dragon/Ground sound pretty sweet too, why don't we throw two of those in too to balance it out, just 'cause?"

If I were you, I would expect a letter from GF soon. YOU'VE CRACKED THEIR CODE!!!

I wouldn't mind if they were only available post E-4 or something...I'd like to have a team of all new pokemon. but having them not available at all I don't like the sound of that.

Let's see, they said "IT IS GOING TO BE A FRESH START WITH EVERYTHING BEING NEW AND FLASHY DESSUUU?", right?

Yeah, Gen V bashing, here we come!

That's such a horrible idea. I think a lot of people stopped at Gen 3 because they didn't recognize the pokemon.

I'm not sure I know what you're asking?
Are you suggesting that only certain Pokemon be obtainable in Black/White?

Or are you saying that a bunch of old Monsters cease to exist?

If it's more like DP, I'm fine with the idea.
If it's like RS where they disappear for almost 2 years, I'm not interested in the least.

Besides, it wouldn't make much sense, All of the modern games will be playable on the DS

I don't see why the games being similar to RS would mean automatic rejection.
RS sold around 13 million copies, and were the best-selling games for the Game Boy Advance.

Anyway, seeing brand new pokemon was the best part of RS you actually felt like you were someplace new because of that and if BW are anything like RS I'll be very happy. I still think they should let you trade over pokemon from previous generations before the national dex though to accommodate people who still want some form of access to older gens.

If done properly a rodent-like legendary could be neat.

No. People with their Nostalgia Goggles on would do ceremonial sacrifices like they did with Ruby and Sapphire.

Nah.

I liked RSE having a whole bunch of new guys in the spotlight quite a bit, but I also liked the decent amount of old ones which bumped up the Regional Dex to a respectable 220 compared to DP's rather tiny Regional Dex of 150. So, while I do support a bunch of new Pokemon unrelated to the old ones, at the same time I'd like to see some of my old favorites return as well. A Regional Dex of at least 300 is what we need, imo.

Bug Legendaries would rock though...Mothman-esque Pokemon would rock!

I could really do without Zubat, Geodude, Magikarp and Tentacool. Magikarps gives no exp and zubats are so annoying.

I really wouldn't mind if they left out most of the older pokemon and put them in a safari zone. Not in my face every time I enter a cave.

Changing things around could make all the differance:

There could be 2 psuedos, Dragon/Fire and Bug/Ice. The starter area Bird could be Grass/Flying, I'm thinking the Peafowl idea would work out best with Intimidate. The rodent could be a Ground type, sort of like Sandshrew. The legendaries could include a Poison and a Fighting type and not include another Mew-wannabe small and cute Psychic type.
