in DP105, a new pokemon with a ? sign appeared. will be an electric pokemon
and will save the world! the pokemon people said that the name of the pokemon will be revealed in December 13, 2008!

Well, according to Serebii.net, the "Mystery" pokemon in question seems to actually be a Pichu.

No, The only factor that might be remaining for a branch evolution is a time related evolution (Like Espeon and Umbreon were, or possibly Beautifly/Dustox to a lesser extent.). Burmy's version of evolution won't work for Pichu, as it evolves via happiness, and besides which, what two different areas can work for it?

Besides, a similar thing happened with a Pikachu way back in the first movie, and last time I checked, it didn't get a branched evolution. It could just as easily be the same thing here.

My guess is it's a regional variation. All the Pokemon in the area the movie's set in may have slight variations on coloring. Much like the Pinkan Island Pokemon in Orange Islands.
