Which do you prefer to have your Pokemon be made for competitive reasons and why? (I don't know if talking about genning is considered against the Rom Hack rule, so if it is, I will respectfully let Mods take down this thread.) And if you are on either side, would you compete with players who had their Pokemon the other way, (such as would you compete against Genned Pokemon if you Bred yours, and if you'd play against Bred mons if yours were Genned?)

I prefer having that feeling of "this is the Pokémon that I spent hours, days, weeks, maybe months looking forward to getting, and it is finally mine". I prefer the satisfaction of sending something out to battle that I worked hard to get.
Example: I've reset over 6284 times for a shiny Type: Null. Does that mean I don't have one?
Au countraire, I do have a shiny Type: Null! It's on a Beast Ball, it's 6IV and it is named "HaterSayFake". Got it via Wonder Trade.
So why don't I use it? Because it is an obvious hacked piece of-
It's not what I worked hard for. I want to be able to send it out and make people say "he's probally a hacker, it's too good to be true", and then I can just show them the proof that it is legit and be like "SUCK IT!".
About fighting genned Pokémon? As long as they are legal Pokémon and I don't recognize it, I'll just assume it is all cool, fight on. Obviously, I'd like them to actually breed those mon. That is the most fun part of caring of Pokémon, on my opinion. But, not all think so.
Oh well...

Discussing genning Pokémon is fine, as long as anyone isn't going to explain how it's actually done ;)

That said, I'm personally against obtaining Pokémon in any non-official way, so always breeding for me, no matter how annoying I find it because it takes so much time. If another person wants to battle with me and I know their Pokémon are genned, I would probably refuse cause it feels unfair to me. However, you mostly just don't know so I mostly just sigh grumpily whenever someone sends their full shiny team out :p

I breed my stuff. I managed to hatch and train both a Cherrim and Kommo-o over the past few days. It's not as time intensive as it used to be once you get a decent set-up with parents, but it's still not ideal. Easy to do while watching streams, podcasts or Netflix though.

I'm not bothered about people using genned Pokemon against me, their game, they can do whatever they want with it. We're both going to be on "equal" terms with the IVs and whatever anyway, so it's not like it will make the fight unbalanced.

I prefer to breed my stuff, but I don't battle anyway so I don't mind receiving hacks. It all goes into my own personal private collection that I can ooh and aah at and nobody else is really going to see it.

EDIT: What I mean is, I'm not going to use hacked Pokemon even in non-battling parts of the game. I prefer to breed those myself. Hacks and most of the things I catch/breed go into my private collection.

I prefer breeding. Always have. Not that it matters too much. This generation makes it so easy to get Pokemon with good stats that I don't get why people still do it. Only reason I can think of is to save time, which I get is something not a lot of people have. Because of that, if people use genning to get what they want, it really doesn't bother me as much like it did in the past. Now you can breed without worrying about IVs because of Bottle Caps/Golden Bottle Caps and natures are easy enough to get.

Bottle Caps require you to level the Pokémon up to lvl 100 though, which in SM takes more time than the breeding itself.

I also get why people use genning though, I admit I would like to breed more mons to use in competitive battling but I simply don't have the time. It's just my personal opposition against any kind of cheating that's stopping me from just genning them.

I have to admit though, that I do sometimes use genned Pokémon with 6 perfect IVs I got via trade for breeding, to make it go a bit faster. Though I would still never gen Pokémon myself even for that purpose.

If I wanted to gen a team, I'd go to Smogon and just use their sim. I'm finally taking the time to delve into breeding this gen after largely ignoring the competitive postgame in previous gens, and as infuriating as it is, it's rather rewarding when I finally get it right.

I don't like cheating. I prefer breeding my team.

Also, if I wanted to use other mons but don't have the time to breed, the game provides the option of borrowing teams through QR codes, so I don't think genning is necessary in anyway. Whether those teams on the Global Link are genned or not, I have no way of knowing. (Though I do hope they are bred)

i'm okay with hacking if you don't have the time to breed because all in all if a pokemon can get past wifi censors it might as well be legal.

i like breeding my teams though; it's way more satisfying as everyone says and you feel more "connected" to your pokemon.
the same goes for shinies as well.

i know hacking is pretty controversial nowadays but tbh it really isn't a huge problem like i said above.

I'm not against Genning as I've obtained Pokemon via methods such as the DS/GBA cheat cartridges in the past. I do prefer breeding, as I'm not that fussy with what I get, and legitimately obtaining Pokemon ensures that I don't have to worry about them not being able to be transferred to future gens or Bank.

It's fine just as long as they keep their illegitimate Pokemon within their own games. The moment they attempt to trade them, that's when there is a problem.

I see Pokemon as rare gems. If I'm going to play competitively I want the real thing and not a knock off.

The effort to breed and train is worth it when you have achieved the final result.

I'm a breeder and I have no problem doing everything legitly because I know how~ That said, I've used genning very minimally and see no problem with it as long as the mons are legal with proper moves and stats, etc~

I myself almost always breed my own Pokemon and then uses Pokesavs, Action Replays, and Powersaves to save time on training, manipulating gender, Poke Balls, and shininess~ Like the amount of Pokemon that I've genned is minimal to the amount I've bred with proper IVS and just hacked to be shiny or a certain gender~ I even EV train pretty often~ I only don't when I'm trying to make full teams at once~

Do you action replay to find your ideal Pokemon?

I prefer breeding or bottle cap. I honestly don't like it when people use genning, but as long as they stay within legal bounds and it isn't an obvious fake, I don't care what they use to battle me. On the other hand, people who use stuff like unavailable egg moves or make things like Beast Ball Porygon2 or shiny Ultra Beasts, then please don't bother with me. My rule of thumb is this: if it's possible to get what you're using with normal gameplay, I'm fine with you as long as you don't attempt to trade me your hacked mons. If you battle me with something that's impossible (whether it be certain Poké Balls or something that should be shiny-locked), then I prefer not to battle.

Definitely breeding. Genning is cheating, in my opinion. If you want to use genned Pokemon, go play Pokemon Showdown (I'm a big fan of Showdown, myself). But if you gen on the actual games (and use those gens against other players), just stop.
